ÅAC Microtec has developed a modular microsatellite PCDU (Power Conditioning and Distribution Unit) concept with focus on high reliability, resiliency and performance. The PCDU is scalable depending on the features and interface requirement of the specific mission. It provides high power 28 V outputs and redundancy for power distribution as well as command and control via CAN or RS485. A rigorous testing and extended qualification campaign compliments an innovative design approach that combines COTS and radiation hardened components and optimizes the reliability and performance characteristics of the system.

ÅAC Microtec introduces to the space market the Sirius OBC, a reliable high-performance on-board computer for advanced missions in a nanosatellite form factor design. The Sirius OBC features the real time operating system RTEMS running on a FPGA based soft processor. The combination results in outstanding system availability in the most critical mission phases.

The ÅAC Microtec Nano PCDU (Power Conditioning and Distribution Unit) for nanosatellites is the result of a joint development project between ÅAC Microtec, the US Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL), and Swedish Defense Materiel Administration (FMV). The unit was designed for the SPARC-1 6U CubeSat, but it also supports other spacecraft form-factors (e.g. 2U, 3U and larger satellites). The flexible and modular PCDU is designed for mission life up to five years in LEO and implements both power conditioning and distribution of the regulated 12 V battery bus and auxiliary 5 V and 3.3 V outputs. The rigorous testing and extended qualification campaign compliments an innovative design approach that combines COTS and radiation hardened components and optimizes the reliability and performance characteristics of the system.

The ÅAC Microtec MicroPol device is a radiation tolerant point of load DCDC converter with built in protection features, designed and optimized for the requirements of telecom and science space missions. The MicroPol performance is ensured through use of radiation hardened semiconductors in combination with an extensive validation campaign and analysis performed during the design phase. The MicroPol device is designed in a hybrid package with integrated input and output protection circuits and filters. This approach results in a complete stand-alone solution and enables easy integration with a minimal set of external components.

The ÅAC Microtec Micro PCDU (Power Conditioning and Distribution Unit) was initially developed under a Swedish national mission and tailored to the requirements of the LEO microsatellite bus InnoSat. This is a state-of-the-art spacecraft architecture designed for innovative low cost research missions. The flexible and modular PCDU is designed for mission life of up to five years in LEO and implements both power conditioning and distribution of the regulated 28 V battery bus as well an auxiliary isolated 5 V bus. The rigorous testing and extended qualification campaign compliments an innovative design approach that combines COTS and radiation hardened components and optimizes the reliability and performance characteristics of the system.

Bluestone is a satellite data management system developed by ÅAC Microtec and Spacemetric in cooperation and offers an alternative to increasing the bandwidth to address the problem handling the increasing volumes of data.
