Admiral's fuel filter separators provide efficient removal of free or entrained water and solids from engine fuels. Marine growth such as barnacles and mussels, foul the internal surfaces of sea water systems. This results in clogged pipes and valves, lower heat exchanger efficiency, and increased fuel consumption. Marine growths also encourage biological corrosion in addition to normal chemical corrosion; both of these problems substantially increase maintenance costs and interfere with proper shipequipment operating performance. Chlorine injection has been utilized to combat these problems However these systems are expensive, utilize scarce manpower, and introduce toxic chemicals which not only require special handling but may also accelerate corrosion. Additionally, chlorine use is now banned in some majorwaterways. ELiNCA is the reliable, efficient, low cost answer to these problems. The ELiNCA system protects sea water installations by the use of anodes with an impressed current. These unique anodes are made from copper or iron. Copper ions are added to sea water in extremely small amounts by electrolysis to prevent marine growth. The process is carefully controlled and ships use only 12 volts and a maximum of 2 amps to each anode. This action not only reduces biofouling but also reduces corrosion. The iron anodes form a gelatinous hydroxide which assists in suppressing chemical corrosion.
Two cylindrical housings are connected via inlet and outlet valves. The valves are linked by a common gear box with a hand wheel that allows selection of a clean housing without interruption of the oil flow. Oil enters the top of the housing, and particulates are trapped within the elements as the oil passes through. When a predetermined differential pressure is reached, changeover to a clean housing is accomplished, automatically or manually. The cover hold-down bolts and vent valve associated with the out of service housing become exposed and this allows the dirty filter elements to be cleaned or replaced without interruption of flow. Admiral's in-line filters are designed to effectively and efficiently remove dirt, scale and other foreign matler from a liquid process stream. The filter housings are designed in accordance with ASME Code Section VIII. Welded construction of 304 stainless steel is used for strength and corrosion resistance. The filters are supplied with cleanable elements rated at various efficiencies from 2 to 59 microns. These elements are designed with radial pleats to provide a low pressure drop and large filtering area. This configuration allows a large dirt holding capacity yielding longer intervals between servicing. Admiral's in-line tee-type gas filters are designed to effectively and efficiently remove solids such as dust, dirt, pipe scale and other foreign matter from a process gas stream in a compressed gas system. The filter housings are designed in accordance with ASME Code Section VIII, Div. 1 criteria for a pressure of 175 psig at 200°F. Welded construction of 304 stainless steel is used as standard material for strength, minimum weight and maximum configuration flexibility within specified envelope dimensions. Other types of material are optional. Admiral's pleated element design provides low pressure drop, extended filtering area and long intervals between servicing, resulting in a more lightweight filter assembly with greater dirt holding capacity. The element is cleanable and available in 50 to 2 microns nominal (98% efficiency) solids retention range. Element collapse pressure is greater than 150 psid. Each filter is provided with a mechanical differential pressure pop-up indicator to indicate cleaning is required.
