CUSTOM MADE VALVE HANDLES FABRICATION

Agwey Metal was commissioned to manufacture custom valve handles for a customer in the industrial valve industry. Advanced precision machinery was utilized to perform such processes as punching, Waterjet cutting, and brake pressing to precisely shape a range of materials including 304316 stainless steels, inconel, and cold rolled steel. A variety of handles were created in multiple sizes and shapes as outlined in customer specifications, with overall dimensions ranging from 6 to 24 in length, and .120 to .375 in thickness. A tight tolerance of 0.003 was held throughout fabrication.
The handles were given a rubber coated finish, and comprehensively tested and inspected for quality and accuracy with in-process micrometer and height gauge measurement methods. Volumes vary from 25 to 2, 500 pieces per order, shipped to the customer in New England after a turnaround time of 1 to 3 weeks. For more information about this custom valve handle fabrication, or the other customized tight tolerance manufacturing capabilities offered please see the table below or contact us directly.

FABRICATION OF STEEL HANDLES FOR THE PACKAGING INDUSTRY

A customer in the packaging industry hired Agwey Metal to manufacture a range of custom steel handles. The customer had already had progressive tooling built for the part, but it was revised and the tooling was rendered obsolete. To save the customer the more than $30, 000 investment cost in new tooling, we were able to utilize prototype tooling and our turret punch to fabricate the newly revised part. The manufacturing of the handles is an involved and complex process, requiring over 10 total individual operations throughout production including punching, the adding of holes, bending, reaming, tumbling deburring, heat treatment, dimensional and visual inspections, and hand tweaking of all parts.
Our advanced stamping press, and Bridgeport machinery are employed for manufacturing the handles, which are composed of 0.060" thick, 4130 steel. We are able to achieve the tightest tolerances of 0.005" throughout. The part exhibits a black oxide finish, and overall dimensions are 2" by 12". Turnaround time for this project is 3 weeks, with 1200 to 2000 units shipped annually to the customer in Illinois. For more details about this custom steel handle manufacturing project or our other capabilities for manufacturing and project development please see the table below or contact us directly.

INSTRUMENTATION PACKAGING KIT

A customer in the instrumentation industry needed a company with the experience and production capabilities to provide packaging and assembly services for their existing products, as well as machining and fabricating abilities. Agwey Metal was contracted to perform all of the required work, which included kitting, packaging, part marking, and the custom machining of major kit components. Our stamping presses and specialized labor force were employed for this project, assembling hardware kits consisting of various parts. Kit components ranged from off the shelf nuts and bolts, to custom machined pipe plugs. Also provided to the customer were small bubble wrap bags and cardboard sleeves for specialty packaging. 0.090" thick heavy duty steel brackets are incorporated into the assembly, as well as painted finishing techniques.
Over 5 different hardware combinations were satisfied, with varied volumes handled per month -- ranging from 50 to 1000 monthly units. Kits are complete after a turnaround time of 2 weeks, shipping completed kits to the customer in Massachusetts. CONVERSION FROM SHORT RUN TO MEDIUM/HIGH RUN PRODUCTION

A customer was seeking to convert their short run production manufacturing to medium and high run volume production, selecting Agwey Metal to take over their production in order to increase output. We completely redesigned their process, including designing new tooling. The fabrication of this product employed our advanced brake press and turret press equipment, whereupon 0.055" thick aluminum material was manipulated to the customer specified configurations while holding a tight 0.010" tolerances.
We were able to assume a product line that had an initial output of 250 units per month and revamp the process to realize a current volume of 4, 000 units per month. As a result of this successful conversion, the customer saved $10, 000 in tooling cost, and a lowering of overall product costs by close to 25%. For more details about this production volume conversion project, or additional process redesign and precision metal manufacturing capabilities available at Agwey Metal please see the table below or contact us directly.
