he component shown here was precision thermoformed from ABS for a manufacturer of trucks. Designed for use as a gear cover, the component had to meet industry standards such as ISO technical standards as well as specific DOT standards. The cover featured dimensions of 3.0" 5.0", and required tolerances ±.060". Manufactured on our TF 100 multi-cavity vacuum former, the finished part had a haircell finish, and required full assembly and mating of parts. A customer in the toy industry contracted us to manufacture this piston which is used in one of their toy products. Composed of polypropylene, it featured multiple moving parts and mating surfaces, and highlights the complex shapes that our advanced processes can produce. Manufactured on our precision injection molding equipment, the part featured a SPI B-2 textured finish, dimensions of 2.068" in length, and an outside diameter of 1.040", with a volume of 0.27 cubic inches. The customer supplied drawings called out tolerances of ± 0.005", which was maintained through dimensional inspection and hourly fit testing. A toy industry customer contracted us to produce this custom injection molded polypropylene component. The customer supplied drawing called out for finished texture of SPI D-3, and the use of a custom color for the polypropylene to be used. We provided the color matching for the Pantone Cool Gray 7C that the part required. Manufactured to tolerances of ± 0.005", the part featured dimensions of 2.300" in length, an outside diameter of 1.681", and a volume of 1.45 cubic inches. Quality control was provided by regular fit testing and verification of critical dimensions throughout the run. The component shown here is a product of our precision injection molding capabilities, and was designed for use as a pressure port in a building ventilation system. Formed from a TBD plastic with a UL95-5V rating, it measured .500" in length, .625" in width, and 1.200" in height. The finished part met tolerances of ± 0.003", and featured a 63 microinch finish. Quality was maintained through in process dimensional inspection, and part integrity was verified with air leak testing. 1000 of these components were manufactured at a rate of 180 pieces per hour, for our customer in the Midwest. EXTRUSION OF A CORE X-FLANGE GASKET FOR THE AIR VENTILATION INDUSTRYA customer in the building ventilation industry needed a precision extruded PVC gasket manufactured for one of their ventilation systems. The product, a core X-flange gasket, required close tolerance extrusion as well as several secondary manufacturing processes. This complex part was composed of ridged and flexible PVC. The rigid PVC was black in color with a 94-5V rating, and required a minimum thickness of 0.03". The flexible PVC section which was a GA-1264FR thermoplastic was also 94-5V rated and flame retardant. The gaskets were manufactured utilizing our extrusion capabilities as well as routing and punching to meet the various critical tolerances. The finished parts measured 21.688" in length (+ 0.000"- 0.030"), and 1.925" in width and height (±0.050"). Other tolerances included a maximum curvedness of .63", and tight tolerances of + 0°- 5° angular, and ± 0.015". The customer required 2500 finished pieces which we produced at 165 parts per hour. manufacturer of building ventilation systems in Spain was in need of a tight tolerance gasket product for use in their air ventilation systems. The parts where composed of ridged GEON 8700A PVC, with a minimum thickness of .03", and a GA-1264FR, flame retardant flexible PVC with a minimum thickness of .05", both with a 94-5V rating. Manufactured on our American Kuhne Co-Extrusion equipment, the finished part measured 10.750" (+0.000"-0.100") in length, 0.185" in width, and height of 1.175" (+0.025"-0.015"). The 380 pieces that we produced featured a 63 microinch finish, with tight tolerances of +0.025"-0.015". For more information on this project
