American Japanning Inc. was contracted to perform the custom coating of a motorcycle gas tank shown here. This part was constructed from steel, and we utilized an adhesion spray treatment to prepare the part for coating. The coating consisted of a primer and base coat, and the final coating of red urethane was applied with our spray painting procedure. This labor-intensive project was carried out according to customer specifications, treating one piece for the client in an accelerated turnaround time. American Japanning was hired by a customer in the gun industry to custom coat a spring used in a gun magazine. This is an ongoing large volume project, in progress for over 2 ½ years with a special set up at our facilities in order to fulfill the demand. The most common dimensions for the spring are 1 ¾” in width by 15” in length, and it is composed of a black oxide stainless steel. The spring is prepped for treatment with an adhesion spray and solvent cleaning procedure, and a primer and base coat is applied. The final orange colored coat is spray painted on, for an oil coated material finish. The part is visually inspected to certify coating quality and consistency.
A customer in the electronic industry needed a company with the volume capacity to custom coat panels for an electronics application. American Japanning was up to the challenge, hired by the customer to provide the premium coating to their critical specifications. The panel was composed of aluminum, with various dimensions and contours. Utilizing our adhesion spray process along with a chromate conversion immersion pre-treatment, the unit was effectively prepared for coating. The treatment process consisted of a primer, base coat, and a texture coating. Turnaround time for this project was 7 to 10 days, with a high volume production agreement and shipping worldwide. A customer in the marine industry contracted American Japanning to perform the custom coating of solenoid units. The parts are 4” in length, with varied widths. The zinc plated steel solenoids were pretreated with an adhesion spray, and a black finish coating was applied with a spray paint application. The application was an advanced mirror image line method, painting the top part then reversing to coat the bottom portion. Visual inspections were implemented to ensure accuracy and integrity.
