Fuel Quantity Probes

AMETEK active probes are designed for internal tank mounting using quick-release clamps. The design of the probes is highly flexible, allowing AMETEK to produce custom designs using standard parts and proven materials. Probes can also be furnished with integral flanges for external mounting. Crashworthy probes are available with load spreading caps or frangible design.

A Fuel Quantity Probe system can be configured for any size tank with multiple probes of lengths defined specific to each tank and AMETEK can model the tank to enable the system to report total volume of fuel - taking into account arbitrary fuel tank shapes.

Pressure Transducers

AMETEK Aerospace & Defense has extensive experience supplying pressure transducers for aircraft hydraulic systems. AMETEK's Silicon-on-Insulator technology and patent-pending design yield high accuracy with unmatched reliability and stability in the most demanding environments. Available in absolute, gage or differential pressure configurations, the transducers are designed for high shock and high vibration environments. The transducers can be configured for low level electrical output (100 mV typical), voltage output (.5 to 5.5 VDC typical) or current output (4-20 mA). Other outputs for specific system compatibility are also available. The transducer has been tested to, and meets the most stringent EMC and HIRF requirements of MIL-STD-461F, DO-160E and D6-16050-5. Fully compatible with many media, these transducers can be adapted to have any pressure or electrical connection. Configurations including additional sensing capabilities and various levels of redundancy are also available.

Position Transducers

AMETEK Aerospace linear LVDT are designed for accurate measurement of position in aircraft and missile systems. They are tested to meet the most stringent environmental requirements of MIL-STD-810 and MIL-E-5400.

These single-voltage or dual-voltage output devices are designed for high accuracy and reliability. The LVDTs welded construction will withstand exposure to extreme environments and many types of fluids and gases.

Internal temperature compensation can be included to minimize temperature effects, and accuracy can be specified to +0.15%.

LVDT Position Transducer Datasheet Where system operation requires dual output signal, AMETEK can provide tandem designs that combine two LVDTs in a single transducer assembly. These special designs utilize single-shaft construction, and provides two outputs of equal amplitude with carefully matched null positions. A special coil design virtually eliminates output-to-output crosstalk. Phase-matching networks can be included within the LVDT assembly to precondition the output signal for direct connection to control and display circuitry.

Features

Wide range of operating frequencies to match aircraft and missile systems requirements.
Full range motions for +0.01 inches to +6 inches.
Performance and construction to meet extreme operation conditions.
Single-voltage and dual-voltage outputs are available for redundant or dual-function systems.
Case and fitting configurations can be custom designed to fit actuator and control surface requirements.

Temperature Sensors

AMETEK Aerospace & Defense offers a highly reliable and cost effective method of sensing the temperature of aircraft fluids, including fuel, engine oil, and hydraulic fluid.

The TJ107 family of Temperature Sensors is in service on numerous commercial and military aircraft around the globe. AMETEK utilizes proven sensing technologies including Resistance Temperature Devises (RTD) and Type-K Thermocouples for measuring fluid temperature depending on system interface or accuracy considerations.

Total Temperature and Pressure Probes AMETEKs experience with the unique environmental requirements for aircraft fluid systems provides the customer with the assurance of a low risk solution.

AMETEK offers a standard, all-stainless steel, hermetic package for value and schedule considerations but can tailor the design to your unique requirements also. Mechanical interface options include an industry standard, threaded fluid fitting or a flange mount for connector keying or error-proof installations.

Variety Of Electricity Interfaces

Electrical connections can be accomplished with either a receptacle connector or integral cable assembly with a remote termination. Time response requirements are weighed against the structural requirements for the design. Additionally, AMETEK can offer dual elements for redundancy.

Multiple RTD Resistance vs. Temperature curves are available. Typical elements used include platinum, thin film for 100 and 1000 applications. Platinum wire wound elements can be packaged for 100 , 200 and 500 applications. In addition, nickel wire wound elements per MIL-T-7990 standards are offered.
