BaseWest specializes in aircraft escape slide lighting systems. We have been selected sole source on every new Boeing, Airbus and major regional jet program that we have had the opportunity to bid since 1996 including A320, A330340, A350, A380, 737, 757, 767, 777, 787, Embraer 170190, and CSeries. We are the sole supplier for these systems to Air Cruisers and Goodrich Corporation. BaseWest developed the first “round wire” system and remains the only FAA approved escape slide lighting systems based on LED technology and advanced electronics. Luminaire housings, including the new snap-together design, are compact, as well as crush and chemical resistant.

Many of the same battery packs that BaseWest provides to Air Cruisers and Goodrich for their new aircraft escape slide lighting systems are available to airlines, MRO's, and independent service centers under FAA-PMA approval by identicalilty. BaseWest remains the only Boeing and Airbus approved supplier of LED-based slide lighting systems and the advanced “smart” battery technology that powers them. The latest 787, A350 and regional jet programs feature BaseWest’s FAATSO-C142a approved lithium battery which enhances performance, reduces weight, and extends service life.

The Model 601 aircraft crew light battery is FAA-PMA approved for use with the AstronicsDME Model EF-1 Series airline emergency flashlight that is used on many airliners. The 601 is a direct replacement for the original equipment battery pack. Unlike some battery packs that are PMA-approved for the this application, we use only high quality Energizer® alkaline cells resistance-welded into a powerful, long-lasting and safe power source. We use flame-retardant ABS plastic housing and teflon-insulated MIL-SPEC lead wires. The battery is rated for a four year shelf life.
