The pulse oximeter medical assembly has many features, including: custom 9-pin D-subminiature components; an overmolded strain relief with custom latching mechanism; PC board assembly; high-flex cable with seven individual 28-gauge conductors, each composed of 40 strands of 44-gauge tinned copper; two shielded conductors that isolate the signal and eliminate interference (the shield is constructed of 40-AWG tinned copper); polypropylene insulation; and a polyurethane jacket. Molding materials include PVC, polyurethane, TPE, and polyester.

This custom-designed, right-angle overmolded cable assembly attaches to a portable auxiliary heart pump. Partnering with our customers engineers led to a proprietary molded cable assembly that incorporates off-the-shelf components with our custom-molded alternating rib, flex relief. Since this is a new product and actual demand in the marketplace is unknown, we designed the tooling to meet the customers current low-volume requirement and cost target. As demand for the product grows, the mold is scalable, and additional flex-relief cavities will be added to the tool to increase production output.

We produce coaxial cable assemblies and are equipped to produce a wide range of interconnect products. The vast majority of these are custom designs for original equipment manufacturers (OEMs). Coaxial assemblies may be single lead cable, or the coaxial lead may be incorporated into a multi-conductor composite cable.

Our customers customers demand performance. So, we frequently receive requests for cable assemblies that will hold up under extreme conditions, such as coiled cords that will remain flexible at low temperatures, or cable assemblies that can withstand pulling and tugging without electrical failures or intermittence. For example, the assemblies might attach to data input equipment used in warehouses. With people jumping on and off forklifts, it is a fact of life that cables will occasionally snag on the equipment and stress the connection.
