The unit shown above was designed for a Southern California LPG plant to raise a process gas stream from 485 to 1308 F using 1850 F flue gas. Constructed of type 347H stainless steel using longitudinal finned pipes, the unit was designed for direct installation in an existing stack opening. Hydrostatic testing using chloride free water was performed at 3290 PSI (227 BAR).

Shown is an internal view of a horizontal kettle type reboiler used to generate dry steam. Kettle diameter, vapor nozzle quantity and size, and a BRAUN proprietary demister design were used to provide 99.9% dry steam. BRAUN tank suction heaters efficiently heat exiting tank fluids to suitable pumping temperatures and are ideal for viscous fluids such as fuel oils, heavy crudes, and asphalt. For increased efficiency and to reduce fouling due to high tube wall temperatures, tubes incorporate continuously welded longitudinal fins. All heaters are design to high quality ASME and TEMA standards. Materials are typically carbon steel; however, stainless steel and high alloys are available.

Tank coils are custom designed for each process application and can be used for both heating and cooling services. Coils are an economical solution for low flow rates andor high pressure mediums and are available in all weldable metals including titanium.

We do not offer low cost "off the shelf" oil coolers. BRAUN oil coolers satisfy minimum TEMA quality standards, include removable bundles for maintenance and replacement ease, and are designed for extended service life. Tubes are typically integral low-fin enhanced.

We offer a full line of double pipe and multi-tube hairpin exchangers for both new applications and the hairpin aftermarket. Hairpins offer the following significant advantages over shell and tube (ST) exchangers: True counter-current flow allows a deep temperature cross in one unit where TEMA F or multiple series connected multi-pass ST exchangers are required. Economical at extremely high pressures (10, 000 PSI). U-tube design and all nozzles on one end making hairpins ideal for high temperature applications where linear and differential expansion are issues. Hairpin are available in all weldable materials including titanium. Double pipe hairpin shells range in size from 2" to 8" nominal pipe. Multi-tube hairpin shells range in size from 4" to 36" nominal pipe. Overall unit lengths are limited only by pressure drop and transportation economics. The alloy 625 unit shown above was designed for tubeside 800 PSI MAWP at 1400F MAWT and shellside 150 PSI at 750F. Disc and donut baffles were used to minimized shellside pressure drop and eliminate tube vibrations.
