Occupant Detection System

Two and four sensor strain gage systems designed to fit customers needs and are integrated into the seat frame design. The system is designed to comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety System 208 (FMVSS208) requirements. The sensor placement is optimized to provide low tolerance yet maximize separation.
Material & Process Features
The Strain Gage ODS System is designed to maximize passenger safety. The ODS system determines the weight of the front passenger occupant and determines multiple occupant classifications. Judgment of whether or not to fire the airbags come from threshold parameters set in the ODS ECU. Advanced algorithms are used to prevent vehicle vibrations from disrupting occupant judgment.Size
Sensors SG10 are 12mm in height, and weigh 105g, for the 2- and 4- sensor system. SG19 are 19mm in height, and weigh 160g, 4-sensor system. The harness average mass is 100g. ECU: 60g.

Auxiliary Oil Cooler

  • Size Size is dependent on customer application. The common off-the-shelf sizes range from small car to light duty truck.
Available options include conventional Air-to-Oil and Water-to-Oil designs, with in-tank and direct mount enginetransmission designs. Air-to-Oil coolers feature a high efficiency louvered fin design and extruded tubing. Direct-mount coolers feature rigid base plates with captured o-ring to prevent leakage. In-tank coolers interface directly with Calsonic radiator tanks and are available in concentric design for low power applications and laminated plate design for higher power applications. A variety of cooler designs allows for flexibility in application and vehicle packaging. We have long-standing relationships with partner suppliers that can supply thermostatic valves.
Material & Process Features
Our auxiliary oil cooler uses brazed all-aluminum construction which yields a part that is lightweight but extremely durable. Zinc cladding is used to improve corrosion resistance of parts.

Blower Motor

The intake unit supplies air in the desired state into the car through the air conditioner unit. It operates in one of two modes, the recirculation mode, for circulating the air inside the car, and the fresh mode, for admitting air from the outside. Compressors

Variable Displacement Compressor our family of five variable displacement compressors are based on Calsonic Kansei proprietary technology known as single-sided wobble, continuous variable displacement. The operation of the compressor can be adjusted continuously according to the cooling power required. There are two control methods, internal control and external control. With the internal control technique, a built-in control valve detects the pressure changes of the intake coolants and controls them. With the external control technique, the control valve is activated by electrical signals sent from an external microcomputer. The external control technique enables optimized control of output pulses, and therefore enables significant improvements in fuel efficiency and drivability.
Rotary Compressor - Our family of three rotary compressors are simple, small, lightweight and easy to attach. Also, they have few components and provide excellent cost performance. Our compressors have ten output pulses per shaft rotation, providing an exceptionally smooth flow of coolant. These compressors have almost no vibration and generate very little noise.

Under technical partnership with the then GM Harrison, the first company in the world that mass-produced compressors with single-sided wobble continuous variable displacement, Calsonic Kansei launched production in Japan in 1988. Since that time, we have provided an extensive product lineup ranging from compressors for compact vehicles to those for large vehicles using our proprietary variable displacement technologies. We mass produce variable displacement compressors with an external control system that offers significant improvement in fuel efficiency and these units are highly respected in the market. Rotary compressors which are smaller, lighter and offer superior cost performance, are used for a range of purposes and also have the advantage of our extensive experience and original technologies.

Hvac Unit

Calsonic Kanseis HVAC Systems are the product of both the human sciences and the science of climate control. We test our systems repeatedly to ensure that they provide the user with a comfortable environment, by performing tests all over the world in different climates, weather and driving conditions. Condenser

The condenser is made with brazed aluminum construction utilizing high-efficiency serpentine louvered air fins and thin wall micro-extruded or fabricated tubing. Its new 12mm thickness core with a 30mm diagram integrated liquid tank and sub-cooling region provides high performance with significant mass reduction. The reduction in pressure drop of the condenser allows for reduced refrigerant charge and savings to the customer. A seal-less construction of liquid tank reduces possible leak paths and the refrigerant pressure sensor is available on outlet port based on customer requirements.Material & Process Features CKs condensers use a lightweight aluminum construction for high durability with low mass. We use in-house stamping of most metallic components and for enhanced external corrosion protection, we use zinc coated fins and tubes. We also offer optional epoxy powder paint coating available for cosmetic purposes, but materials are always recyclable at the end of the vehicles life. *Nocolok brazing process used for core. Radiator

Depending on the vehicle packaging requirements, down-flow or cross flow designs are available. The brazed aluminum construction provides advantages in both performance and mass. The radiators in-tank concentric and laminated plate coolers are optional for automatic transmission andor engine oil cooling applications which are available for small cars to light duty trucks. Calsonic offers a variety of tube and fin selections available depending on performance level required.
Material & Process Features
Our radiators are made using in-house injection molding of nylon plastic tanks with die repair shop and engineering onsite. Another process we use is in-house stamping of most stamped metallic components.
