Direct Hardening alloys can be quenched and tempered to obtain a wide range of hardness, ductility, and strength levels while also being able to resist stress. Alloy 4150 develops good hardness and uniform strength while also being easy to machine. The Telcut 50® Alloy is the same as Alloy 4150 but with a double machining additive. It is used for heavily machined applications like screw machine parts and has a machinability rating of 100%. Lower cycle times, less tool wear, better surface finish, and improved productivity are achieved with no sacrifice in mechanical properties or heat treat response. This strong alloy is used for its good hardness penetration and hardness uniformity.
