Phoenix™ Jr. Infrared Intruder Beacon System (NSN: 5855-01-539-0639) is a trip wire activated infrared beacon used in conjunction with night vision equipment to detect and signal night movement along trails, roads and entry points. The system consists of the trip wire unit, one reusable 50 ft. line bobbins, an Allen wrench used for winding the bobbins, two magnetic mounts and the Phoenix Jr. Intruder Beacon. The Phoenix Jr. Intruder Beacon flashes at a rate four times faster than the Phoenix Jr., thus differentiating it from the standard combat identification signal. Alternatively the trip wire unit may also be used with any Phoenix or Pegasus flashing beacon, and is available for purchase separately without the Phoenix Jr. Intruder beacon. Several Intruder systems can be deployed to form a perimeter network requiring minimal NVD equipped sentries to patrol. Combat teams equipped with a GPS receiver can quickly deploy and accurately document the location of the intruder network. Once set up, the Intruder systems do not drain any power from the batteries until activated by the trip wire, maximizing the field longevity of the network.

Hero™ Jr. is a versatile reusable marking tool employing multi-directional bright light flashes and a ~130dB tone sound which can be seen and heard over considerable distance. It is compact, extremely rugged, and able to withstand deployment from low-flying aircraft and moving vehicles. When activated, the Hero Jr. first emits a constant sound and rapid light flashes for maximum affect. After sixty seconds, Hero begins emitting a single light flash per second and constant beeping sound for ease in location and recovery. The Hero Jr. is made of high-strength nylon and features rubber impact bumpers on each end allowing the Hero Jr. to withstand multiple deployments from low-flying aircraft and moving vehicles. All the electronic controls are sealed within the device ensuring trouble free operation. Paris™ 2 (NSN: 6230-01-575-9896) has been developed as a more durable version of the traditional MS-2000M Distress Marker Light. Constructed from a solid billet of aircraft aluminum, the Paris cylinder walls are more than 2.5mm thick making the beacon virtually crush proof. 902823IRB Paris 2 with Battery from Cejay EngineeringThe beacons signal is turned ON or OFF simply by rotating the bezel. Once switched ON the beacon immediately begins emitting a fixed flash rate IR signal identical to that of the Phoenix Jr. (NSN: 5855-01-438-4588). When activated, miniature indicator lights within the device will temporarily flash allowing the operator to visually confirm that the beacon is operating correctly in situations where their own night vision equipment has become lost or damaged. Once ON, the operator can then switch to broadcasting a visible Blue strobe pattern via the units single watertight pushbutton switch located at the top of the beacon. If the unit is turned OFF and then back ON, the unit will default to its IR signal mode negating the risk of inadvertently transmitting a visible signal where concealed operation is critical.
