Cords are used in a variety of applications for items that we use every day. Doors, cabinets, windows, cases, air filtration systems, and vacuum systems are just a few examples of the common household items that require them. They are also used in the outdoor sporting industry for kayaks, gun cases, coolers, etc. Cords offer a wide range of capabilities such as; create a water tight seal, fill space and cushioningshock absorption. At CRE, we produce cords from a variety of materials; EPDM, neoprene, nitrile and silicone. The material used for the cord is determined by the application and the specific needs of the cord. Setting blocks are typically used as cushions between glass and aluminum in architectural systems. Blocks come in many thicknesses, widths and lengths as well as many different polymers. Setting blocks or dense material can be extruded or fabricated to any length required. A pressure sensitive adhesive (PSA-1) can also be added to these materials.

This system shows a wedge gasket to the exterior with a pre-set sponge (closed cell) to the interior. These components rely on compression to minimize air and water infiltration. These systems are designed to accommodate some water infiltration. If the window andor wall system unit is allowing water to enter the structure, testing should be done to determine the entry point(s) of the water. If the internal metal-to-metal seals have been confirmed to be performing properly, the exterior wedge may be replaced (assuming the interior gasket is still performing properly) with a new wedge gasket. This gasket has the ability to accommodate a certain amount of joint tolerance while limiting air and water infiltration. If the internal metal-to-metal seals have been determined to have failed or were improperly installed the most economical method of correcting the problem may be to wet the seal exterior with a cap bead of silicone sealant. This system shows a sponge (Closed Cell) gasket to the exterior with a dense drive-in wedge to the interior. These components rely on compression to minimize air and water infiltration. These systems are designed to accommodate some water infiltration. If the window andor wall system unit is allowing water to enter the structure, testing should be done to determine the entry point(s) of the water.
