Steel Plunger Cap

  • Material Used C1018 Steel
  • Material Finish Natural
  • Volume 6, 000, 000 Per year
  • Standards Met Customer supplied print, 2D CAD Drawing
The product shown here, a steel plunger cap, which was designed for use within an internal combustion engine, in an automotive application. The parts where constructed of C1018 steel, manufacturing required precision cold heading which we performed on our four station nut former.
This project required both precision and high speed manufacturing in order to maintain the customer's specifications. The part measured .309" in length, with an outside diameter of .594", and an inside diameter of .135", and featured a natural finish. The customers design specifications required maintaining tolerances of .001", with true positioning of .005", and perpendicularity of .001". Quality was maintained with dimensional testing throughout the 6 million part manufacturing run that we perform annually. Steel Body Blank

  • Material Used C1018 Steel
  • Material Surface Finish 8 Ra
  • Volume 400, 000 Per Year
  • Standards Met Customer supplied print, 2D CAD Drawing
This steel body blank is used within an internal combustion engine application The project shown here is a body blank which was designed for use within an internal combustion engine. Used in a lawn and garden application, manufacturing required the use of several processes. The body was formed on our five die, six station multi blow progressive cold header. After forming the outside diameter was ground to a diameter of .8438", with a .8 Ra finish.
This part is composed of C1018 steel with a finished size of 3.043" in length. All components were within tolerances of +.0000"-.0008", and a straightness requirement of .0003". Other tolerances met were circularity of .0003", and circular runout of .007". All tolerances were maintained through rigorous dimensional testing. This component is produced in volumes of 400, 000 pieces per year for our customer in China. For more information on this project, see the table below or contact us directly.

Steel Special Socket

  • Material Used 1018 Steel
  • Material Finish Natural
  • Volume 300, 000 Per Year
  • Standards Met Customer supplied print, 2D CAD Drawing
This steel socket is used within an internal combustion engine application
The item shown here was manufactured for an automotive customer in Aguascalientes, Mexico. Designed for use within an internal combustion engine for the automotive industry, they required the manufacturing of 300, 000 of these parts per year. The supplied drawing called out for the use of 1018 steel, with a natural finish. The part was cold formed on our five die, six station multi blow progressive cold header to dimensions of .569" in length, with an outside diameter of .622". A secondary process required the drilling of two holes.
All of the parts where subject to rigorous quality control to maintain the tolerances of .001", flatness of .002", circular runout of .002", and circularity of .001". For more information on this project, see the table below or contact us directly.
