Crawl Space Walls

Symptom:

Like basement walls, crawl space are ideal places for air and moisture penetration. Cool and warm air can permeate through stone or cinder walls.

Solution:

Spray foam sealant at a 1" layer on a cross area of crawl space walls, adding additional 1" layers as necessary.

Baseboards

Symptom:

Openings under finished baseboards and unfinished junctions where walls and floors meet can aid the movement of mice and pests.

Solution:

Fill these openings with Mouse Shield to block pests and drafts. Fill gaps where walls meet floors with Mouse Shield, trimming away excess foam. For finished baseboards, remove baseboard panel and fill gaps in floor. Mouse Shield can be trimmed and painted to match up to finished areas.

Garages

Symptom:

Both unfinished and finished garages may contain gaps where the walls meet the concrete foundation. There may also be openings where two walls meet at the floor or ceiling.

Solution:

Apply a bead of Mouse Shield along gaps and openings found along the perimeter of where walls meet the floor. Fill any openings at wall junctions, and other obvious areas.

Basement Walls

Symptom:

Basement walls are ideal places for cool air and moisture penetration.

Solution:

Spray a 1" layer of foam around the perimeter of the wall cavity and then apply a back fill layer of foam at 1" to fully enclose and air seal the space.

Rim or Band Joists

Symptom:

Gaps can be found where rim joists cap the end row of joists. Air flow can occur where gaps exist.

Solution:

Air seal gaps with a 1" layer of 2-component spray foam (12" wet spray will expand to 1") in these cavities. Install wool batting and a polyethylene vapor barrier.

Sill Plate

Symptom:

Openings where sill plates and concrete slab foundations meet let in moisture, air and pests.

Solution:

Apply 1" layer of spray foam along sill plate or apply foam sealant along gap between platefoundation and sill. Slowly fill seam as you continue to move can along seam.

Building Envelope - Plumbing Electrical

Symptom:

Rough cut openings around pipes, hoses and electrical boxes can be gateways for mice and other pests to enter your home.

Solution:

Spray a bead of Mouse Shield around rough cut openings that surround pipes, hoses and electrical boxes to block out mice and pests.
