The open pitch spiral convolutions aid in the draining, flushing and cleaning of the hose. This versatile hose is available with either a high tensile strength high temperature stainless steel braid or corrosion resistant user-friendly polypropylene braid. Applications include the transfer of corrosive chemicals, flexible steam lines, acid handling, the circulation of hot oil, the handling of solvents, high temperature air and conveying of monomers in the manufacturing of plastics. PFA has the same chemical compatibility as PTFE and has much better flex life than that of FEP.

Many systems have the need for liquids to be drained from gas systems. Because water is corrosive to most air piping systems, and because water can damage air tools, air cylinders and other equipment, draining water from air compressor tanks and similar systems is a constant requirement. Since steam traps perform a similar function draining condensate from steam systems, they are commonly used, with slight modifications, as liquid drain traps.
