Plasma spray and flame spray thermal tapes are all created to withstand high temperature and the most demanding plasma spray, flame spray, and grit blasting applications. These thermal spray tapes are known to resist fray and will release easily without leaving adhesive residue.

Carbon braid is most commonly used in the fabrication process of custom definitive sockets for upper and lower limb prosthetics. Carbon braid allows the patient to have a lightweight yet rigid socket frame. When a technician fabricates a carbon frame he employs a hand lamination process of manually saturating the carbon braid with a hardening resin. Carbon braid is commonly available in weights of 12K standard, 6K lightweight, and 3K ultra lightweight.

Transfer patterns are available for the customization of orthoses, straps, and other orthotic and prosthetic applications. Providing the option to personalize a device can allow for greater acceptance and a happier, more satisfied patient. Curbell Plastics offers both heavy and standard transfer paper in a variety of attractive patterns and colors. Heavy Transfer Paper– performs well on larger thermoplastic sheets. With heavy transfer paper there is less opportunity for wrinkling, tearing, and fly aways, and less disruption of patterns or prints during the application process. UHMW tapes consist of an ultra high molecular weight polyethylene film coated with a pressure sensitive acrylic adhesive. They exhibit excellent abrasion resistance and a low coefficient of friction, making them an excellent bearing or wear surface. UHMW tapes are used anywhere you need a frictionless or nonstick surface such as guide rails to reduce noise levels in glass bottling plants or desk drawers to provide smooth, friction free drawer movement.

The prototyping stage has become more and more critical in recent years as the pace of new product development has accelerated and product lifecycles have contracted. Since most product design work is now done with some type of computer software, the first model of a new product is often a series of computer files. Converting these files into three-dimensional physical models can be accomplished through an additive or subtractive process.

Polyimide tapes consist of an amber colored polyimide film coated with a pressure sensitive silicone adhesive. They are often used in applications that require good chemical resistance or high temperature resistance. Polyimide tapes act as excellent electrical insulators, are thin and conformable, and have outstanding tear resistance at elevated temperatures.
