Stationary Air Blast Equipment

Since 1928, we have been providing a wide array of industries with the highest quality surface preparation equipment and accessories. We offer numerous types of stationary blasting equipment including both compressed air and centrifugal wheel blasting systems. The majority of blasting equipment is powered by a compressed air system that utilizes a pressure or suction mechanism to propel the blasting media. Pressure systems are capable of producing higher media velocities and typically are more efficient than suction systems. In addition to the media delivery method, air-powered blasting systems are available in wet or dry blasting configurations. There are a number of factors that go into selecting the appropriate system for a given application, and our specialists can assist customers in determining the ideal blasting solution for their specific needs. Blasting equipment is available with a number of optional features that allow you to introduce partial or full automation to your blasting operations. Robotic arms, integrated indexing tables, pass-through conveyors, and multi-nozzle set-ups can all be used to increase throughput for production applications. For engraving, deburring, and other detail-oriented work, micro-blasting provides a high level of precision and versatility. Micro-abrasive blasting works in the same way as general abrasive blasting, but smaller nozzle diameters afford the operator tighter control over the area to be blasted.

Steel Deck Shot Blasting Equipment Distributor

Our selection of floor preparation equipment provides an efficient and versatile solution for blasting applications. Steel shot blasting equipment can be used to remove years of dirt, grime, rust, and other contaminants as well as old coatings and sealants. In addition to cleaning the surface, the shot blasting equipment simultaneously profiles the floor, preparing it for any subsequent coatings or treatment. Because shot blasting is a mechanical process, no chemicals are used. As such, shot blasting is equally applicable for indoor and outdoor settings including bridges, steel decks, parking garages, and industrial facilities. A self-contained collection system filters the steel shot by removing the dust, particulates, and spent shot, while re-usable shot is recycled back into the system. Most models are self-propelled to expedite the blasting process, and can reach speeds up to 100 feet per minute. Machinery is available in a variety of widths from 8" to 48" to accommodate jobs from wide open areas to tight spaces.

Distributor Of Portable Blasting Equipment

The portable blasting equipment we offer is used in multiple applications by industrial customers and contractors alike. Portable blasting equipment is available in a number of configurations from small, single nozzle units to large systems capable of accommodating multiple blasters. Suction units are typically used for small to medium applications which only require a moderate amount of power, while pressure units are preferred in applications that require higher energy. Our application specialists can direct you toward the best system for any given project. Portable blasting systems can be broken down into two categories: open-blasting systems and blast-and-recovery systems. Open blast systems possess only abrasive blasting capabilities. Any media recovery, if needed, must be accomplished via a separate vacuum or containment system. If you already own a media collection system, or no media recovery is required, this can be a cost effective option. Blast-and-recovery systems include both the abrasive blasting system and some form of media recovery which may include a media recycling system or a simple dust collection system. Blast-and-recovery systems are easy to set up and can be transported to the jobsite with minimal effort. All-in- one units offer maximum convenience and portability which can drastically reduce labor costs and the overall time required to complete a project. Within these two principal portable blasting systems, multiple configurations are available to suit a range of application and budgets. We have been providing our expert guidance and the highest quality abrasive blasting equipment in the industry since 1928. For additional information about the range of available abrasive blasting system options, please contact us directly.

Specialty Blasting Equipment Supplier

For applications not suited to conventional blasting media, we offer several specialty options which include dry ice, sponge media, and soda blasting as well as high efficiency Greener Blast systems. All of these options are environmentally friendly and each offers unique advantages for certain applications. Dry ice blasting uses pelletized or shaved dry ice to clean the desired substrate. Because dry ice sublimates (i.e. goes from a solid directly to a gas) on contact, minimal clean-up is required, making dry ice blasting ideal for dust-sensitive areas. Dry ice blasting is also EPA, FDA, and USDA approved making it an effective solution for food and beverage processing as well as many production (clean-in-place) applications such use with injection molding machines and printing presses. Sponge media blasting is a very versatile method that is ideal for applications in which rebounding media or excess dust are principal concerns. As its name suggests, in sponge media blasting a foam sponge type media is used to clean the substrate. A variety of common abrasive media can be incorporated into the sponge to increase the efficacy of the blasting operation, or the sponge material can be used by itself for gentler applications. Additionally, sponge blasting may be performed using media that has been dampened with water or cleaning agents to more effectively remove contaminants and control dust. Soda blasting (i.e. sodium bicarbonate), commonly referred to as baking soda, is used to gently but effectively remove everything from dirt and oil to graffiti. As an environmentally friendly blasting method, soda blasting can be used in a wide array of applications including historical restoration, firesmoke damage, and general industrial cleaning.

Laser Stripping Systems

At Dawson-MacDonald, we take pride in being the oldest and most trusted distributor of surface preparation equipment in the Northeastern United States. Our machinery encompasses the latest technology, including laser systems for stripping and coating removal. The use of laser technology for coating removal has matured greatly. It currently provides stripping rates that match or surpass chemical stripping and abrasive blasting, avoiding the huge amount of waste material normally and their related disposal costs. Laser stripping technology helps maximize operational efficiency. It utilizes smaller equipment and eliminates the need for workspaces to have heavy encapsulation. Laser technology also allows various and conflicting processes to occur adjacent to each other, providing shops with the highest levels of efficiency. Lasers can strip urethanes, polyurethanes, enamels, epoxies, alkyds, and powder coats. This includes substrates such as steel magnesium, aluminum, copper, carbon fiber, fiberglass, wood, and composite materials. Laser stripping is highly accurate and does not overheat most substrates. This process is also very precise, allowing users to remove coatings while stopping at the primer coat and not affecting etched substrates. Tests with substrates that have etched surfaces with .002 - .003 profiles showed that coatings could be removed while leaving the etched surface fully intact, requiring no re-etching. Our laser systems cover a diverse array of power outputs, ranging from 20 to over 1000 watts. The laser wattage basically corresponds to stripping rates at a linear rate; for example, a 500 watt system will work twice as quickly as a 250 watt system to strip the same coating. Sizes also vary, and range from easily transportable backpack units to larger systems around the size of an office desk. Fiber optic cabling is also available for very large jobs, allowing the warhead reach to extend to 150+ feet to reach areas a distance away without needing to move the equipment.
