Replacing normal plywood with Noiseless Wood improves the transmission loss in two critical regions. First: at the resonance frequencies of the structure the peak vibration levels are reduced about 10 fold. Second: at mid to high frequencies there is a phenomenon referred to as the coincidence frequency. This is the sound that has the same wavelength in air, as does the bending wave in the panel at the same frequency.

Noiseless Rigid Urethane Flooring (NRUF) is laminated Urethane Board designed to reduce vibrations and noise transmission in flooring constructions. It consists of two sheets of Urethane Boards bonded together by a thin viscoelastic damping layer. Noiseless Rigid Urethane Flooring serves a dual function. It damps structure-borne sound, and it replaces the sheet that would otherwise be used in various applications, usually without it being necessary to accept an increase in the thickness of the materials. NRUF Noiseless Rigid Urethane Flooring can often eliminate the need for special screening or sound absorption, which would otherwise take up a considerable amount of space and increase the weight of a product. Typical applications include Transit vehicle and Train floors in order to create maximum noise separation.

Barrier materials block noise. Flexible noise barrier is a limp, tough, high-temperature-fused vinyl loaded with non-lead fillers andor reinforced with high-strength fabric. They resist passage of sound waves and reduce noise transmission.
