Coin Ring Tool

We here at Diamond Mold & Tool know a thing or two when it comes to turning of core, cavity, coin ring and punches. Using either a CNC lathe or a conventional lathe, we can fine-craft cores, cavities, forms, punches, and coin rings into works of industrial art. Whether the basic material we're working with is tool steel, pre-hardened mold steel, andor stainless steel, the result will be a prototype or product that's bottom-line sturdy and reliantly functional.
Our processes include milling, turning, grinding, sinker EDM, fitting, heat treatment, plating, coating, and welding. Our equipment controls range from manual to full-on CNC. Additionally, we operate 3D milling capabilities as far as machinery axes, so that our machining tolerances are (+-).0005". And our customers - anyone including automotive, appliance, aerospace, medical, industrial, construction, and agricultural clients - love our consistent handiwork and turnaround times of 1-8 weeks (rush services are indeed available). Mold Design

  • Product Name 46 Cavity Production Mold Assembly
  • Material Finish Cavity area to be 16 RMS max with no visible scratches or tool marks: Bottom Insert Assembly Center Insert Assembly Top Cavity Block Assembly (2)
  • Volume 1 - 46 Cavity Mold
Diamond Tool & Mold has an industry-wide reputation for our ability to design and fabricate molding that streamlines production for specialized applications. We produced the mold assembly pictured here for a customer in the automotive industry. It is designed for use in a rubber-to-metal bonding process for high-volume manufacturing of transmission seals.
Our engineers worked closely with the customer to define both the part and production requirements. They created 2D drawings and 3D models for this 46 cavity mold assembly to simulate and fine-tune its functionality. We specified three grades of steel for the various components, including 4140-PH for the plate assemblies to ensure a high degree of flatness, and 440 stainless for the inserts due to its superior edge retention. Operations consisted of both CNC and EDM machining, heat treating, and finish grinding the components to within extremely precise +0.0005"-0.0000" dimensional tolerances while maintaining roundness, concentricity, flatness, and parallelism within 0.001" T.I.R. In addition, we polished the cavity area to a 16 RMS finish, leaving no visible scratches or tool marks.
Measuring 35.440" x 32.000" x 7.264", we designed and fabricated this mold assembly with complete geometric precision, guaranteeing the integrity of our customer's component parts.
