Fastener Dimension, INC. is proud to announce that we are now stocking Shur-Lok brand Expandable Diameter Fasteners. These fasteners all all unique to your individual applications. Each fastener is custom-engineered to expand in a hole to prevent fretting (corrosion or wearing away). These unique fasteners can eliminate the the extra expenses and need for close tolerance machining or press fits fasteners.

These fasteners are typically used in aircraft engine's and engine mounting, helicopter rotor heads and blade attachment, mounting of anti-friction bearings, or can be put in place to make a tighter joint. What makes all of this work? The real brain of the fastener is the expandable bushing stack of alternating tapered split bushings. When you compress the fastener and force is applied to the ends of the bushing stack, the diameter of the fastener simply increases. When the compression is released and the force is relaxed the bushings return to their original diameter. Once the pressure is released you can easily remove this fastener and reused at a later time. These fasteners have already been designed in a multitude of different types. These types include: bolts, blind bolts, shafts, and cam-operated pins

Fastener Dimension, INC. is proud to announce that we are now stocking Shur-Lok brand Barrel Nuts, Barrel Nut Retainers and Barrel Nut Tandems. The Barrel nut is used in high-tensile applications, securing heavy structural members to the fuselage. These heavy members can consist of but not limited to hanging aircraft engines or attaching wings or tails to the fuselage. They can also be used in attaching the landing gear and wing tips. By using these barrel nuts, you will minimize drilling and eliminate the need for long expensive bolts when attaching these heavy structures. Barrel Nuts are available in advanced aerospace alloys, Floating or fixed (non-floating) nut location in the carriage, metallic or non-metallic materials.

The Barrel Nut Retainers are to assist in easy bolt installation to the barrel nut. These products are available in high strength aerospace alloys, metallic locking and non-metallic rings. These retainers can be used on both floating and non-floating Barrel Nuts.

Barrel nut tandems are also available for easy installation, these tandems come with spreaders that articulate and have attached retainers or lanyards.

Fastener Dimensions, INC. is now stocking Shur-Lok Brand Fasteners for Advanced Composites we all know that in most cases fiber-reinforced advanced composites are stronger than metallic structures. The problem is they do not respond well to localize concentrated loading. The problems they were faced with consist of galvanic compatibility, interference fit, hold edge crushing, vibrations, and water absorption. Shur-Loks solution to address this issue is the design of three types of special fasteners. . The types: bonded-on, bonded mechanical and nonmetallic potted-in. The bonded-on type includes studs and insert plates supplied with pre-attached thermoplastic adhesive. The adhesive is melted by applying heat to the fastener. The bonded mechanical type uses a combination of adhesive and mechanical means for retention in the structure. The nonmetallic inserts and spacers (sleeves and plugs) are primarily designed for sandwich structure. The primary material is polyetherimide which is non-reactive with current composites and is very lightweight.

Fastener Dimensions is now stocking vibration Isolator mounts, these isolator mount prevent vibrations, Noise and heat from transferring into the interior of the aircraft. These isolators can be found in the mounting of engines or equipment inside of the aircraft between the exterior fuselage and interior aircraft passenger walls and the floor boards of the aircraft. These fasteners are made from advanced neoprene or silicone rubber and metal. They are available with nuts with thread lock or quick-release receptacle when frequent removal is required.

Blind Inserts are installed from one side and are typically used in sheet metal applications where high-torque is required. Types include flush or plus flush heads, locking or nonlocking, carbon or stainless steel.

Special inserts have been designed for a variety of applications in sheet metal, wood, or sandwich structure . An insert may have been already designed that will fit your special requirement.

These types of inserts can me mechanically installed or potted in with epoxy. These fasteners are engineered to fasten all types of honeycomb and sandwich panels structures.

Engineered to assemble aircraft interior main structure and secondary structures, such as: floor boards, wall panels, galleys, stow bins, over head compartments, and lavatories. These inserts are available in threaded and non-threaded, through or blind, locking or non locking. All designs and configurations are available. The floating inserts features a unique floating nut self contained in the insert, this special movement allows you to compensate for screw misalignment (easy installation).

Spacers are also available and are designed to be installed in structural applications, most typically these spacers are in aircraft floors. Spacers are available in two different systems, either one-piece sleeve or a two piece system of plug and a sleeve. Often spacers are installed with epoxy under the flange to increase shear load carrying capability.
