Compression Cable Pulling Heads

BURNDY announces the addition of the compression cable pulling head product offering to our HYDENT family of compression connectors.

The compression pulling head line makes BURNDY a one-stop-shop for all your cable pulling, terminating, splicing, taping, and installation tooling needs!

Only 6 compression pulling heads for wire ranging from #1 AWG 1000 kcmil for both Aluminum (Class B [Concentric, Compact, Compressed]) and Copper (Class B [Concentric, Compact, Compressed], and Class C) wire. Each compression pulling head is available in 5 different lanyard lengths, in order to stagger the compression pulling heads to prevent overlay when pulling multiple wire at the same time.

Only 1 tool required to crimp the entire line! To help minimize installation time and minimize the amount of installation tooling requirements, the compression pulling heads have been tested for use with the 644 series of dieless installation tooling. What separates BURNDY from the competition is BURNDY supplies a full line of compression terminals and splices that can also be installed using the 644 installation tooling (see our catalog for connector and tooling combinations).

BGBS Aluminum Lay-in Lugs

BURNDY announces a new series of lay-in lugs - BGBS4 and BGBS5. Made of high strength aluminum alloy, these items can be used with copper or aluminum conductors. The connectors are for use with solar modules with a maximum thickness of 14 inches. Both are electro-tin plated and provided with stainless steel hardware.

The serrations establish better contact and cut through oxidation, ensuring low contact resistance and high conductivity. The anodization on aluminum rails is nonconductive and electrical current cannot pass through this layer; the cup point screw penetrates this layer allowing current to flow into the aluminum connector and consequently current flows to the conductor.

These connectors are UL467 and UL2703 Listed for use with copper cables of size 14 AWG - 6 AWG and aluminum cables 12 AWG 6 AWG; stranded or solid. The connectors are also available in bulk.

PATRIOT LINE Pole Cutter

BURNDY announces the introduction of the PATMD-ALLIF PATRIOT IN-LINE Pole Cutter Crimper Tool, designed for use in extended reach, live-line, hot-sticking applications working from inside the aerial bucket or from solid ground.

An industry first, this unique design builds upon the original BURNDY PATMD IN-LINE battery tool platform, bringing control to your fingertips while working with hard to reach, energized overhead or underground lines. Designed for safety, convenience and function, the PATMD-ALLIF battery-operated tool performs cuts in seconds and eliminates the exertion and energy required using similar manual or ratchet type models.

Its balanced weight distribution allows for a more ergonomic experience versus similar tools on the market where the majority of the weight is at the top of the pole.

With interchangeable heads, this one tool can accommodate most of your long reach cutting and crimping requirements.

Bolted Wedge In-Line Disconnect Switch

We are pleased to announce the new Bolted Wedge In-Line Disconnect Switch, combining an innovative bolted wedge hybrid connector with industry standard components to bring the most reliable performance to switch distribution line connections.

The Bolted Wedge In-Line Switch utilizes dual insulators to minimize switch movement during opening and closing of the blade. Installation steps are kept to a minimum as the switch can be snapped directly onto the line and secured with the BURNDY conductor pivot retainer. This retainer acts as a third hand to free up the line workers hands to safely install the connectors.

These innovative BURNDY bolted wedge connectors utilize bolted technology to provide a highly reliable mechanical and electrical connection and combines it with sliding wedge technology to ensure the connection stays tight even if the line experiences high mechanical loads. The hybrid design also takes some of the guesswork out of tightening the hardware. Simply tighten the bolts near the recommended tightening torque and the hybrid system takes over.

In addition to improving the safety and reliability of the connection, the new Bolted Wedge Connector system also increases the range of conductors it accommodates.

4 Fence Post Ground Clamp

URNDY has developed a new fence post grounding connector to accommodate 4 square fence posts. These large 4 fence post connectors are increasingly common for substation security fence applications as well as high security fences surrounding data centers, power plants, and other large industrial facilities.

The new 4 square clamp is tin-plated and has two wire grooves to accept 10 to 40 larger conductor in one groove, and #6 to #4 in the other groove. The large wire typically ties into the ground grid and is installed at the bottom of the 4 fence post, whereas the smaller wire is used to connect the fence mesh or barbed wire at the top of the fence post.

The GA400H294CTN is supplied with silicon bronze hardware, tin-plated clamping elements and recommended for direct burial in Earth or concrete. This heavy duty connector is another application solution found in The Grounding Superstore.

Flex Conductor UNITAP UL Listed

We are pleased to announce the addition of a Clear Insulated Multi-Tap line to our UNITAP family that is UL Listed to the Wire Connector Standard UL486A-486B and CSA Certified for use with Flexible (Fine Stranded) Conductor. A disc-pad screw has been incorporated to prevent damage to the fine strands as the conductor is compressed during installation; eliminating the need for wire ferrules. The connectors are shipped with the pad attached to the screw by a thin stem. During installation the pad is sheared from the stem as it makes contact with the conductor and remains stationary as the screw continues to rotate until the recommended installation torque is achieved.

This enhanced line of connectors also contain conductor port and screw port caps that have been improved!
