In all of aviation, the training needs of helicopter pilots are unique. No other aircraft is as fundamentally complex and unstable as rotorcraft, or as frequently asked to perform so dangerous a mission profile. Costs of operating and training in the actual aircraft are generally much higher than for fixed-wing aircraft of the same weight class. Even more so than in fixed-wing training, there is a wide range of maneuvers and emergencies that simply cannot be taught in the aircraft at all. There should be a significant role for simulation tools in helicopter training, yet there is a very limited selection for effective training alternatives. Why? The inherent instability of rotorcraft demands an enhanced “feel” for flight control that is extremely complicated and difficult to simulate. In many helicopters, stability augmentation systems (SAS) provide enhanced stability but also affect the pilot’s feel of the aircraft. Autopilot systems in more complex rotorcraft types are correspondingly complex. These challenges plapxce great emphasis for simulation engineers on the interface between the pilot and flight control systems, and on autopilot integration.
F2Si’s new Maritime Simulation device is designed to replicate the full range of possibilities found in the complex, dynamic environment of today’s offshore drilling. The Ballast Control Simulator (BCS) is a groundbreaking device that is not limited to a specific class of rig. The BCS has the design versatility, with its touch screen interface that allows the user to switch between different rig class configurations, immersing the trainee in the most realistic environment possible, covering a rig’s most crucial systems and scenarios whether it is a twofour hull semisubmersible, DP or jack up. F2Si’s all-electric 6 degree-of-freedom motion base design allows for a smooth, quiet, and nearly maintenance-free operation, while the F2Si patented motion base interface provides the sophisticated motion cueing typically found only on million-dollar hydraulic motion bases. A touch screen console allows the simulator to represent more rig classes at a lower price. Each screen can be designed to meet the specific switches, pumps, valves, etc. on your rig. These devices have the control necessary to operate the mooring system, jack up systems and junction control system to name a few. In the same manner as with flight simulation, F2Si uses their experience with Instructional System Development (ISD) to incorporate the most critical tasks into the simulation device.
The Type Specific devices are F2Si’s affordable solution for any aircraft, rotorcraft or other systems. Many training applications require type specificity of cockpit design. Training for more sophisticated and technically advanced aircraft, especially in an era driven by the need to reduce risk, mandates that the simulator cockpit look and feel exactly as one would find it in the airplane. F2Si has the capability to provide advanced avionics, EFIS displays, autopilot and flight management integration, and sophisticated power systems for any type aircraft. The level of specificity can be adjusted to meet your needs. Whether it is a cockpit layout that represents the aircraft or a full cockpit shell with all the nuances, there is a solution available. F2Si has worked closely with aircraft manufacturers to source parts directly from the production line and has found salvage components that can be offered at lower costs. Naturally, the MOTUS Type Specific Simulation Device includes all the other features F2Si is known for… 6 degrees-of-freedom, all-electric motion base – Motion cueing is most critical in training applications that require type-specific cockpit design. Aviation insurance underwriters universally prefer training in full-motion simulation devices; nothing else task-loads a pilot or provides the authenticity of flight environment the way motion cueing does. By basing cockpit design on each customer’s training requirements, F2Si provides all the type specificity required without any unnecessary cost. For all levels of type-specific flight simulation, F2Si is setting new standards for value and affordability.
The MOTUS Reconfigurable is F2Si's full-motion, reconfigurable flight simulation device. It is designed to provide the optimal balance between flight authenticity, reconfigurability, and affordability. No other device offers the benefits of the MOTUS Reconfigurable. Configurable over a wide range of single- and multi-engine aircraft – With the Laminar Research PlaneMaker software, no other manufacturer can offer the reconfigurability – and added simulation utility – that F2Si can. Compact Footprint – A small footprint allows the unit to fit into constrained spaces yet still offer full, 6 degree of freedom motion.
The Garmin G1000 Mobile Training Station (MTS) is a compact avionics simulation package. The MTS uses the OEM displays from Garmin. They work like the real aircraft parts because they are the real aircraft parts. This system comes in a small desktop configuration that easily collapses into a convenient carrying case. All the benefits of Garmin’s G1000 integrated avionics are available only to the well-trained pilot. The Garmin G1000 Mobile Training Station by F2Si Flight Simulation is the smallest, most transportable, and least expensive G1000 training system using actual Garmin components. The Garmin G1000 Mobile Training Station includes the Garmin integrated GFC-700 autopilot controls. Navigation, approach, altitude, vertical speed and flight level change operations are all provided. The GFC-700 autopilot also includes the sophisticated vertical navigation (VNV) operations found in the Cessna Nav III configuration, along with control wheel steering and go-around commands. F2Si Flight Simulation provides all the advanced autopilot capability the Garmin G1000 has to offer.
F2Si’s Fixed Base training device provides thorough, cost-effective training for any Aircraft The enhancements in aviation aircraft technology replace the "six-pack" instrument displays" on older aircraft with newer glass avionics. F2Si provides flight simulation devices that meet the level of specificity for the advanced avionics systems. There’s a lot more to know, which means training – thorough, accurate, lifelike training – is more important than ever. F2Si’s Fixed Base device hasn’t forgotten about the traditional instruments either. The Fixed Base device can be offered with either the traditional ‘six pack’ or any of the newest advanced glass Avionics (such Garmin G1000, Universal 890R, ProLine 21 and more) as a cost-effective training package.
