TEFLON FEP Dryer Covers

Roll covers made from TEFLON FEP are available for dryers. Customers often opt to cover the first andor second dryers after a size press or coater section. These covers are accomplished with O.M.S. technology (On Machine Seaming). This process allows for a sleeve to be installed without the removal of the dryer. Dryer covers made with TEFLON FEP provide the best release. Dryer covers made from TEFLON also reduce the unwanted draw between dryers. These release covers are .020" thick so that heat transfer is not affected. In fact, dryer temperatures can often be increased after a dryer cover has been installed becasue sticking and build-up is no longer a concern.

Printing Roll Covers

Fluoron Roll Covers will help extend the life and reliability of printing rolls and improve product quality. A brief application of heat molds the cover snugly around the roll, forming a skin-tight, high-strength, impregnable jacket impervious to corrosive chemicals, solvents, acids, high temperatures, and moisture. Roll covers eliminate sticky build-up problems such as ink or adhesives. With the use of a convenient heat source, such as a hot air gun, Fluoron Roll Covers can be quickly and easily shrunk on to the rolls. Cleaning of these covers can be can be done easily with a rag and solvent.

Copely Rope Savers

Threading ProblemsRope grooves that are too deep cause a speed difference between the ropes and the surface speed of the dryer, causing sheet breaks during threading and slack buildup. This problem is easily corrected by building up the diameter of the rope groove to the optimum level, with "Copley Rope Savers". Rope Wear from CoatingIn a dryer section following a size press or coater, the coating can splash and build-up on the rope sheaves and groove in the nearest dryers. This build-up causes rope wear. Again, the release properties of Teflon prevent build up. Rope Wear from Rough GroovesChatter marks and roughness in a dryer rope groove causes rapid rope wear and is easily eliminated with the safe and easy installation of Copley Rope Savers. Rope Wear from Improperly Sized GroovesIn order to prevent premature rope failure and to minimize threading time, it is essential that all rope grooves have the same diameter. Differing diameters result in severe wear on the ropes due to slippage, as well as tail breaks and excessive slack buildup. This problem is easily corrected by building up the diameter of the rope groove with Copley Rope Savers. Quick and Easy InstallationCopley Rope Savers can be installed quickly and easily on dryer rope grooves during a scheduled shut-down or wash-up. It takes about one hour to install the rope saver manufactured with long wearing Fluoro-Flex technology on a dryer rope groove. The heat shrinkable liner is first seamed around the dryer journal and then fitted into the dryer groove. Finally, heat is applied to shrink it tightly into the rope groove.

Fluoro-Wear 402

UHMW PE Heat Shrinkable Roll Covers (trade named FLUORO-WEAR 402) can be installed at the paper mill like roll covers made with Teflon FEP, but they wear 30 times longer. Application over rusted, pitted steel rolls, fiberglass or rubber covered rolls are acceptable. A segmented bowed roll is an ideal application for this product. Ultra High Molecular Weight Polyethylene (UHMW-PE) has a molecular weight of 3-6 million, as compared to pipe grade high-density polyethylene, with a molecular weight of 600, 000. UHMW-PE is the toughest plastic known with no breakage in standard izod impact tests. Fluoron, Inc. has a patent on heat shrinkable UHMW-PE roll covers. Standard Product: Standard thickness is .060"Minimum diameter is 5" Potential Advantages of UHMW PE Roll Covers: Restoration of a surface pitted or rusted roll to a high gloss surface.Better release than steel, fiberglass or common rubbers.Lower wear of machine cloth and wires.Installation in your mill.Best wearing of all plastic and rubber materials.Paper carrying rolls, felt and wire return rolls.Ideal for segmented bowed rolls

Fluoro-Coat X550

What is "Fluoro-Coat" X-550? This coating is made with PTFE resin and has as good a release as other coatings made with Teflon and heat shrinkable tubing products. The "Fluoro-Coat" X-550 is sprayed on while the dryer is rotating slowly, then the steam is turned into the dryer and it is heated to maximum temperature. It requires a minimum of 250 F to harden the coating. "Fluoro-Coat" X-550 has the release characteristics of Teflon and is the result of a five-year development effort. X-550 can be applied to the dryer and cured on site and can be field applied in less time than conventional dryer sleeves made with Teflon FEP. This coating is ideal for dryers, even those subject to mechanical damage from pike poles X-550 was developed to overcome the three major shortcomings of dryer covers made with Teflon FEP: The life of the dryer cover is dependent upon the adhesive bond of the cover to the dryer. This bond deteriorates with time and deteriorates faster as temperature increases. X- 550 is good for continuous service up to 550F (288C). When a dryer cover is cut or damaged with a pike pole, it needs to be replaced. An X- 550 coating, when cut with a knife or pike pole, barely shows any damage and does not cause bond breakage leading to premature failure. X-550 is durable enough to be applied as a coating, thereby having as much as 20-fold improvement in heat transfer as compared to a roll cover.

Fluoro-Wear UHMW-PE Sheet

Fluoron has in inventory, static-dissipative sheet of Teflon PTFE and UHMW-PE. The sheet is made with resin compounded with carbon which provides sufficient conductivity making it static-dissipative. Both of these sheet products are available either non-bondable, bondable one-side with epoxy adhesives, or pressure sensitive adhesive backing. Pressure Sensitive Sheet provides easier installation in many applications in wood rooms and wood yards of pulp mills such as lining chutes, hoppers, conveyor beds and cone bottom silos. Hold-down bolting is eliminated, resulting in substantial savings in time and material.

Fluoro-Tac

Fluoro-Tac Fluoro-Tac Web Cleaning Sleeves are an economical approach to clean moving substrates. For about the same cost as a conventional roller regrind, Fluoro-Tac Web Cleaning Sleeves is the ideal answer to making web cleaning affordable. Fluoro-Tac is composed of a proprietary material which features a unique surface property that is capable of easily picking off surface dirt and contaminants from moving substrates, making it ideal for use as a web cleaning roll covering. This high temperature resistant material is soft enough to prevent scratching or marring of the moving substrate. Fluoro-Tac can be installed in plant, using existing idler rollers, eliminating the need for spare rollers. The Fluoro-Tac Web Cleaning Sleeve utilizes compressed air to easily install over an existing idler roll, reducing the required machine space and the need to change web paths. Simply stretch one end of the sleeve over the end of your idler roll. Place the compressed air nozzle between the sleeve and the roller core. Use the generated air cushion to slide the sleeve on the rest of the way. Once the sleeve is on, wait about one hour before trimming, as the sleeve will tend to shrink, slightly after application.
