Rods Precision Testing

The CIRCOGRAPH eddy current test system with rotating probes guarantees maximum detection sensitivity for exposed longitudinal surface defects on bright material. The test system is primarily used for wire drawing machines, Cu tube rewinders, and finishing sections in the bright steel sector. The individually tailored test systems by FOERSTER can be fitted with rotating sensors or CIRCOSCAN rotating discs. They scan flat and profiled material, e.g. when testing rails and billets.

The modern test systems can be optimally integrated in your production process, including comprehensive documentation. Various types of testing sections are available for the assembly of separate testing lines, which ensures that the test material is transported optimally through the sensor system. Together, we will develop a system solution tailored to meet your test requirements.

STATOGRAPH

The STATOGRAPH product family is used for testing surface cracks with the help of eddy current scanning coils. The units use both fixed and movable probes. The fixed scanning coil scans the surface or sections of a rotating test piece, for instance. The intermittently operating eddy current probe only detects a very small part of the entire surface at any one moment. A minor material defect already produces a large disturbance in proportion to the narrow surface segment scanned by the probe.

The probe therefore indicates even minute material defects with ultimate resolution. The probe of the rotating sensor system moves in a circle and at a high rotational speed close to the surface of the test piece, which is moved longitudinally, and scans it.

STATOGRAPH ECM (CE) is the crack testing core module testing and suitable as an entry level unit. STATOGRAPH DS is an eddy current testing system with digital system technology for automatic, high resolution, online defect testing.

MAGNATEST D-HZP

  • Excitation frequency 2 Hz to 128 kHz, 17 levels
  • Number of inputs and outputs to the line 8
  • Test resolution manual, external
  • manual, external Circle, ellipse, rectangle, box regression
  • Stimulation mono-frequency, multi-frequency
Fully automatic identification checking with the MAGNATEST D-HZP

The MAGNATEST D-HZP by FOERSTER is the ultimate magneto-inductive test instrument: the fully automatic system tests materials for their properties. It operates in single coil absolute mode, making a comparator coil unnecessary. The combination of high excitation currents and complex evaluation electronic equipment detects even very small structural discrepancies. The MAGNATEST D -HZP also provides comprehensive options for documenting test results, such as test piece statistics, histogram, and test data export, which are displayed clearly on the large color display.

Your advantages at a glance

Single coil absolute operation, therefore no comparator coil required
Consistent magnetic field strength due to impressed excitation current
Optional high induction current intensity for high test sensitivity to the magnetic properties of the test material thanks to targeted hysteresis control
Full network integration and remote access to process integration
Easy operation due to application-specific function buttons
Automatic formation of statistically assured sorting limits
Trend tracking of the sorting ranges during the testing

ROTO-PUSH

  • Test materiaL cylindrical components
  • Material diameter 8 mm - 65 mm
  • Test system Single or multiple channel
  • Compatible with FOERSTER test electronics STATOGRAPH DS / ECM / EDI; MAGNATEST D
Particularly in the automotive sector, automatic component testing is crucial to ensure a smooth production process. In addition to increased timing frequencies, automation also improves the reproducibility of tests. As a system partner, FOERSTER therefore supplies individual test instruments as well as suitable test concepts as complete solutions.

The ROTO-PUSH test station, which is integrated in production lines, serves to test cylindrical components for cracks in the liner surface. The testing configuration has to be rotated for automatic crack testing. After the test, the test pieces are sorted and separated. The continuous test run ensures a high testing rate, which increases profitability.

Your advantages at a glance

Fully automatic continuous 100% crack testing
Extremely high testing rate as part separation is not required
Automatic sorting into two groups, "OK" and "NOK"
Available in the ROTO-PUSH versions Ro20, Ro35, and Ro65 as single or multiple channel test system
Documentation of the test results

3-AXIS MAGNETOMETER

  • Measurement range 100 µT
  • Resolution 24 Bit ADC
  • Limit frequency 1 kHz
  • Measurement uncertainty ±0.5 % of the measured value
  • Power supply +10 VDC to +28 VDC
The measuring sensors of the 3-AXIS MAGNETOMETER are based on Frster probes (fluxgates). The sensors are arranged so that the magnetic flux density is measured at the same measuring point for all three axes. The magnetometers are fitted with a digital port (RS 232 or CAN) for direct connection to a PC.

The 3-AXIS MAGNETOMETERS are used for applications such as the measurement and recording of the Erath's magnetic field and the long-term monitoring of the magnetic environment, such as prior to the installation of magnetically sensitive devices and systems. It is also possible to set up sensor networks for measuring complex 3D magnetic field spreads. The sensors can also read and record the magnetic signatures within the scope of the degaussing of maritime vessels and their components.

Your advantages at a glance

PC-controlled 3-axis fluxgate magnetometer
Analogue and digital probe interfaces
Multi-channel probe arrangements and networks
Single data or continuous measurement
Data acquisition and post processing software
Data base concept and data transfer interface

Precision Measurement Of Ferromagnetic Steel Tubes

The CIRCOSON WT sensor system works on the basis of the so-called EMAT (Electro Magnetic Acoustic Transducer) method. This method electromagnetically creates and receives ultrasound waves. The EMAT method facilitates ultra precision wall thickness measurements of ferromagnetic seamless steel tubes in accordance with international standards. The data is transferred directly to the CIRCOSON WT test and evaluation equipment where it is processed and analyzed. The system reaches a wall thickness measurement accuracy of approx. 50 m and maximum throughput of up to 3.2 ms during continuous testing.

The CIRCOSON WT system is often used together with the ROTOMAT and TRANSOMAT system. The latter perform additional material testing for longitudinal and transverse defects. As a complete system provider, FOERSTER develops tailored testing lines that perfectly meet your requirements.

Quality Reproducible Testing

  • DEFECTOMAT Sensors (max.)
  • ECM 1
  • DI 2
  • CI 2
  • DA 32
The DEFECTOMAT systems by FOERSTER were specially developed for quality testing and process monitoring of long products. From hot testing to all bright steel processing steps, the surfaces of semi-finished products made from austenitic, (non) ferromagnetic metals can be tested for defects. The DEFECTOMAT systems operate in a contactless and non-destructive manner in accordance with the eddy current method and are used for detecting short defects, such as holes or localized defects and transverse defects. The systems detect defective materials fully automatically and reliably. Defects can be marked, classified, and automatically discarded. the test speed of up to 150 ms facilitates 100% testing, even at high production speeds. The systems benefit from low operating costs and frugal energy consumption as well as low maintenance costs, few wear parts, and low use of materials.

Non-destructive Crack Testing With Rotating Probe

The CIRCOFLUX test system is used for the non-destructive surface testing of ferromagnetic steel bars using the magnetic flux leakage method in accordance with standard EN 10221. This method is the most sensitive surface testing method for longitudinal, crack-like defects in hot-rolled ferromagnetic steel bars. The CIRCOFLUX sensor system therefore replaces subjective testing methods such as the magnetic powder test (magnetic crack detection) and visual checks, which are difficult to document and reproduce.

The available sensor systems cover a material diameter range from approx. 10 to 180 mm. FOERSTER's long-standing experience in this field ensures high operating reliability. The modular design of the test electronics is also ideally suited to meet future demand for ever increasing defect detection sensitivity.
