Elastomeric O-Ring Seals

O-Rings continue to be the most widely utilized sealing product. While the Donut shaped profile has by and large been kept intact since their inception, continued elastomeric development has pushed O-ring temperature and chemical compatibility to limits unimaginable several decades ago. Case Study Icon FAThe following advantages of O-rings are as relevant today as they were at their inception. O-Rings seal over a wide range of pressure, temperatures and tolerances. They also have tremendous ease of service over the course of product life and use a small percentage of hardware space. O-Ring failure is typically gradual and easily identified. Finally, they are a cost-effective sealing solution relative to their product counter parts. Mouse over the above images to learn more about these products. V-Seal

Rotary V-Seals are all elastomeric rotary shaft seals that will stretch across any shaft size. One of the original rotary sealing products; for certain rotary applications they are still an optimal solution for the cost. Manufactured across a range of traditional elastomeric sealing materials Rotary v-seals can stand up to high temperatures. V-Seals are primarily designed to exclude dirt, oil splash and water while including lubricating grease. Light lip pressure generates low friction. Whether used by itself, or in conjunction with an oil seal, v-seals are still viable sealing solutions for low-pressure rotary applications. Elastomeric

Elastomeric Expansion Joints are installed between two fixed anchor points in a rigid piping system. These products provide critical functions in piping and ducting systems in many different industrial applications. Capable of constructing joints from EPDM, Neoprene, Chlorobutyl, Hypalon, Buna-N, Pure Gum Rubber, PTFE Fluoroplastic, and Viton, you can be sure that Gallagher Seals has engineered a joint for an application similar to yours. Customized solutions are essential in industrial engineering because of individual design criteria. Corrosive fluids, large movements, vibrations, and a wide variety of pressure levels, as well as extreme temperatures: The person responsible for plant engineering or equipment design must take many factors into consideration. High quality expansion joints supplied by Gallagher are as practical as they are cost-effective. Together with your team, Gallagher will discuss your proposal and its requirements and then create a detailed quotation with precise technical specifications. Piston Seals

Piston seals are used in hydraulic cylinder systems. Machined grooves in the cylinder piston allow the piston ring to seal directly against the cylinder bore. A wide range of groove configurations and sealing profiles allow Gallagher engineers to match your hydraulic sealing application with the optimal sealing system. Gallagher offers the highest performing urethane materials for your hydraulic application. New advances in hydrolysis resistant urethanes assist in solving one of the most common hydraulic sealing application problems. Case Study Icon FAHydraulic fluid leakage continues to be an important regulatory issue. Advances in more environmentally friendly hydraulic fluid is causing some material compatibility issues with traditional cylinder seals. Ensure that the seals in any hydraulic system are optimized for the hydraulic fluids of the future. Mouse over the above images to learn more about these products. Elastomeric Diaphragms

Gallagher engineers approach the design and manufacturing of diaphragms through a step-by-step process that results in the best diaphragm design, with the most appropriate material, constructed in a manner that optimizes manufacturability and cost. An elastomeric diaphragm is a versatile dynamic seal that eliminates many of the limitations of other sealing methods. They do not leak, offer little friction and can be constructed for low pressure sensitivity. With proper material consideration, diaphragms can seal over a wide temperature and pressure range without maintenance or lubrication.

Marine Bearings

The Thordon COMPAC bearing system uses seawater as the lubrication medium in place of oil. Seawater is taken from the sea, pumped through non-metallic COMPAC propeller shaft bearings and returned to the sea. To ensure that abrasives are removed from the seawater supply, a Thordon Water Quality Package is used. Use of seawater lubricated bearings eliminates the aft seal, as well as the storage, sampling and disposal of oil. Thordon currently offers an industry leading 15-year bearing wear life guarantee on COMPAC. The COMPAC shaft bearing system is currently installed on 600 vessels worldwide. The Thordon COMPAC bearing is an elastomeric polymer alloy designed in a 2:1 LD configuration in the AFT bearing. To promote early formation of a hydrodynamic film between the shaft and bearing, the lower (loaded) portion of the bearing is smooth, while the upper half of the bearing incorporates grooves for flow of the water lubricantcoolant. The COMPAC system typically includes COMPAC bearings, shaft liners, a Water Quality Package, Thor-Coat shaft coating and a forward seal.
