A process engineer working in the electronics industry was looking to automate the assembly of an electronic transformer. These components were being manually assembled and volume requirements had reached a point that the current line production could not increase with demand. The biggest issue with fully automating the assembly of the product was finding the most reliable, robust system to present the transformers for assembly. A secondary issue the engineer was looking to address was the constant management of line inventory on this high volume project.

The tilt sensor was a bottle neck in the assembly process because the parts were being shipped in small containers, in very limited quantity, to protect the contact lead. GPAX Inc. utilizes production floor tested feeding systems to deliver continuous strip packaging that protects fragile and delicate components during shipping and handling. Ideal for protecting the surface finish while avoiding bent leads and mechanical damage, it allows you to derive maximum usability of your valuable component parts. Our highly engineered solutions incorporate conductive, non-conductive, anti-static, andor recyclable carrier tapes combined with our patented mechanical interlocking cover tape. Available with pressure formed pockets, punched flat tape and partially pocketed configurations, we offer ammo pack (fan fold) and single reel wound options. We process tapes up to 200 mm wide and can load parts up to 70 mm tall. We specialize in accommodating odd form parts, and package all components with 0.001" repeatable position accuracy.
