Carbide and tool steels can be enhanced for wear resistance by Chemical Vapor Deposition (CVD) of thin-film, diffusion bonded coatings. These coatings result from the reaction between various gaseous phases and the heated surface of a substrate. The coating is hard, wear-resistant and bonded to the substrate. COATING PROCESSES Typical compositions of CVD coatings are: Titanium Carbide (TiC) Titanium Nitride (TiN) Titanium Carbonitride (TiCN) Aluminum Oxide (Al2O3)
Fluoride Ion Cleaning (FIC), synonymous with Hydrogen Fluoride (HF) Ion Cleaning, has been proven to be a highly effective process for the removal of deeply embedded oxides from superalloys containing significant amounts of aluminum and titanium. Gas turbines require regular overhaul to ensure optimum performance and efficiency. Hot section engine components are subject to damage and deterioration from one or more of the following: Sulphidation Oxidation Hot Corrosion Fatigue Foreign Object Damage (FOD) Repairs require the addition of new material applied by welding andor brazing. The FIC process is the best cleaning process for the removal of deeply imbedded oxides prior to weld or braze repair.
Hi-Tech designs and builds standard or custom systems for industrial and research applications. We utilize the latest technologies in engineering, materials, safety and fabrication. Our enclosed Mass Flow control cabinets feature doors with polycarbonate windows for ease of maintenance and visibility. Our unique glove box design has become the industrial standard for cylinder changeover systems. They provide excellent visibility and access while ensuring operator isolation from hazardous gases.
Hi-Tech designs and builds wet scrubbers for HF and HCl neutralization. All scrubbers feature high efficiency packed columns with high surface area packing to ensure maximum surface contact between the gas and the scrubbing liquid.Coating processes such as CVD and VPA are the deposition of new material on a substrate surface. The FIC process is the removal of material from a substrate surface. These processes are accomplished by the conversion of material from a solid phase to a gaseous phase by using halides. The halide gasses then need to be removed from the gas stream before being discharged to the environment.
