ACOUSTACRETE

The StoneWall series and the AngleWall series noise barriers can be made with AcoustaCrete surfaces, which can be cast in stone or other patterns and can be colored with surface-applied acrylic stains. AcoustaCrete tiles can be fastened to existing surfaces with concrete anchors. Post covers, as illustrated above, fit snugly over the exposed flange of a steel post, adding architectural enhancement and sound absorption. Faddis will consider other requests for product that must be sound-absorptive at the clients request. AcoustaCrete can be cast as an integral part of an MSE facing panel.

ACOUSTACLEAR

AcoustaClear panels, made with Optix acrylic panes, provide an effective noise barrier and a clear view for motorists. Acrylic has proven to be durable in applications around the world for years. Faddis offers AcoustaClear in the U.S. market for use as a complete wall or in conjunction with all other Faddis noise barriers with post spacing from 8 feet to 24 feet c-c. Your options for selecting a source for noise barriers are now clear.

ANGLEWALL OFFSET WALL

AngleWall is an offset or folded plate concrete panel system that should be used wherever there is adequate space to accommodate the undulating trapezoidal wall pattern. The offset distance D varies from 3 to 7 feet. Foundations are typically a compacted, graded aggregate base. Shallow foundations can span over undrillable soils that consist of rock, hazardous materials such as asbestos, or high water tables.

DuraHold & DuraHold 2

Solid concrete blocks stack up and last forever. DuraHold is a robust system routinely used in areas likely to be submerged under quick flowing water with rapid drawdown. In one instance, it was installed by a Faddis customer at a Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) maintenance yard to replace a worn out railroad tie wall. A blast barricade was then erected using Durahold II blocks with alternate courses reversed to construct a vertical face.

Each Durahold unit is 12 inches tall, 24 inches deep, and 72 inches long. Durahold II is half the depth per block. For low-height walls, it is a gravity system to be used where there is no space for a cribbed system. For taller walls, tie-back units either one or two deep create a crib that is backfilled with crushed stone resulting in a massive free draining construction.

Dura-Sales can provide designs and pricing, in place. Design is contingent on local site conditions. For design, provide length and height of wall, backslope conditions (level ground, slope angle, or surcharge), and the phi angle of the material to be retained

SHOREWALL

ShoreWall is ideal for those times when excavating a hillside is not an option. These situations require the creation of a cut slope, which requires a narrow profile vertical retaining wall. ShoreWall is a versatile adaptation of a post and panel noise barrier, strengthened to resist earth loads. ShoreWall, based upon the StoneWall system, is available with a sound-absorptive AcoustaCrete surface. It also includes lagging panels for use in steel post or tie-back applications.

STONEWALL NOISE BARRIER

StoneWall highway noise barriers, constructed with support posts and concrete panels, can conform to the Faddis standard design as approved by Maryland State Highway Administration (SHA) or to the state standard for respective federal and state highway departments. Faddis has supplied StoneWall systems in many states for both government and private clients. AcoustaCrete can be cast on one or two sides of this system where specifications require sound absorption. Concrete posts are standard, but steel posts can be used for vertical panel supports. Post spacings vary from 12 to 24 feet. Products can be provided to meet criteria for perimeter security applications.

StoneWall Options

Formliner patterns in stone, brick, ribbed, or special medallions are available from elastomeric formliner suppliers. Real brick can be cast into the panel surface. Color can be cast-applied using acrylic stains. Realistic stone coloration can be applied by hand for a natural appearance. The system can be designed as a retaining wall for cut-slope applications (See Shorewall).

For developers or commercial applications requiring perimeter fencing, low-height designs are available with lighter components and shorter post spacings. Please call to discuss available options in more detail.

ACOUSTAL ALUMINUM NOISE BARRIER

You are here: HomeProductsNoise Barrier
Bridges that support noise barriers require a low-weight system. AcoustAL is a perforated aluminum panel system perfectly suited for this application. Its name combines the root word Faddis uses for its acoustical barriers (Acoust) with the symbol for aluminum (AL). AcoustAL has also been installed for industrial noise control around electric transformers, chillers, and diesel-powered generator stations. Panels can span 8 to 10 feet between posts for structure mounting or 12 feet for ground mounting. Panel weight is 3.5 pounds per square foot. Sound absorption is NRC 1.0, measured per ASTM C 423. Standard panel is STC 30 per ASTM E 90 and E413. The powder coating provides a durable surface color and a wide selection of colors. AcoustAL is suitable for exterior use as a surface-mounted sound absorber for existing walls. It may also be used for interior applications on walls or ceilings, especially where a durable material not subject to corrosion is required, e.g., swimming pools and wastewater or water treatment facilities.

MSE PRECAST PANEL RETAINING WALL

Mechanically Stabilized Embankment (MSE)

For retaining walls on most state highway projects, the typical wall is constructed of a precast panel facing and granular soils reinforced with linear reinforcements of metal strips, metal grids, or HDPE grids. Faddis is familiar with all of the approved systems and has experience casting the various coping or parapets that are designed for the top of the wall. Systems that require sound-absorptive surfaces may be cast with AcoustaCrete and poured monolithically with the panels as shown in the photo below. The walls are treated with an acrylic stain upon completion to provide a uniform surface color. Faddis can apply an AcoustaCrete face to absorb some of the blast wave force in applications where MSE walls are used as blast barricades.

MSE Options

A variety of patterns and colors are available for any MSE precast retaining wall system. Faddis has 5-foot-by-10-foot forms or can cast product in forms provided by your MSE wall supplier. Precast parapets with patterns on both sides are also available.
