Spin casting (also called Centrifugal Rubber Mold Casting) is a process with low to moderate tooling and set up costs. Our lead free pewter alloy is fully compliant with all state and federal laws regarding lead content, and we have years of experience in contract manufacturing of pewter products Molten pewter is poured into a spinning vulcanized rubber mold where centrifugal force fills the mold cavities. This process allows for deep relief and offers the greatest flexibility for shape and thickness. This process is generally our fastest turn-around product and we offer sizes from 316" diameter up to 6" diameter or 3" x 9". Our die striking capability is enhanced by presses up to 1200 tons. Using hydraulic pressure, metal is forced into steel dies bearing the desired images. Blank metal shapes of brass, nickel silver, copper, or sterling silver are placed into the dies and are struck into the dies sometimes up to four to five times with annealing between steps. Excess metal forced out of the die cavity is then trimmed away preparing the product for final finishing. Our capabilities are for emblems up to 3.0" diameter with thicknesses up to 0.250". Tooling charges for the steel dies usually exceed the tooling charges for cast pewter and brass. Lost wax casting (also referred to as investment casting) is a process where molten brass is cast into a ceramic mold cavity created from wax injected into metal or rubber molds. Metal molds allow us to create castings with high and detailed relief while rubber molds allow for undercuts. Tooling fees and lead times are moderate. This process allows for sizes up to 4" diameter and thicknesses up to 0.250".
