Sample Packs

Contains a 6x6" sample of Cast Acrylic, Extruded Acrylic, and Acrylic Mirror; 3" lengths of Extruded Acrylic Rod and Extruded Acrylic Tube. Also contains a sample chain of various Acrylic colors to match for your project.

Acrylics have outstanding resistance to long-term exposure to sunlight and weathering. Acrylic has excellent optical properties and is more resistant to impact than glass. In addition, acrylic has low water absorption, good electrical resistance, and fair tensile strength. Applications are infinite, including art installations, outdoor signs, glazing, aircraft canopies, skylights, automotive taillights, dials, buttons, lighting applications, knobs, and machine covers.

ABS SHEET - BLACK EXTRUDED

ABS (Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene) plastic is ideal for when excellent rigidity, hardness and heat resistance are required. This thermoplastic is produced in varying grades for a wide range of features and applications. ABS plastic can be processed by any of the standard thermoplastic processing methods and is easily machined.

ACETAL SHEET - BLACK EXTRUDED

Acetal (Polyoxymethylene or POM) provided by Interstate Plastics is a tough, machinable thermoplastic with a high modulus of elasticity, high strength, good rigidity, dimensional stability, and resistances to moisture, chemicals and solvents. It has desirable toughness properties, performing well at extreme temperatures and under fatigue endurance. A low coefficient of friction (COF) alongside excellent wear properties, especially in wet or moist environments, makes acetal one of the most widely used engineering thermoplastics on the market today.

DELRIN SHEET - BLACK

Interstate Plastics is proud to carry Delrin, an industry-trusted name for acetal homopolymer. Delrin is a tough, machinable thermoplastic with a high modulus of elasticity, high strength, good rigidity, dimensional stability, and resistances to moisture, chemicals and solvents. It has desirable toughness properties, performing well at extreme temperatures and under fatigue endurance. A low coefficient of friction (COF) alongside excellent wear properties, especially in wet or moist environments, makes Delrin one of the most widely used engineering thermoplastics on the market today.

Low Moisture Absorption

Acetal plastics are ideal when working in wet environments as they absorb minimal amounts of moisture and, with a high level of heat resistance, can be heated or cooled without affecting form or dimensionality. Delrin can be used in hot water applications up to 140F without any hydrolysis effect. Unlike other materials that may erode form acidic water, hard water does not harm Delrin.

POLYCARBONATE SHEET - CLEAR

Clear polycarbonate sheets, known by the trademarked names Lexan, Makrolon, Makroclear and others, are a particular group of thermoplastic polymers. Polycarbonate is a very durable material. Although it has high impact-resistance, it has low scratch-resistance, so a hard coating can be applied for added protection. Polycarbonate characteristics are quite like those of polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA, ACRYLIC), but polycarbonate is stronger and usable in a wider temperature range.

LDPE WELDING ROD - BLACK

LDPE (Low Density Polyethylene), the first developed polyethylene, is characterized by its toughness and flexibility, low heat resistance, low-temperature impact resistance, and transparency. Like the medium and high-density grades, LDPE has good resistance to chemical attack. At room temperature, it is insoluble in most organic solvents but is attacked by strong oxidizing acids. At higher temperatures, it becomes increasingly more susceptible to attack by aromatic, chlorinated and aliphatic hydrocarbons. LDPE is used for prosthetic devices and in manufacturing containers, dispensing bottles, wash bottles, tubing, plastic bags and computer components.

LDPE rods are known for its low temperature flexibility, toughness and corrosion resistance. Ease of fabrication and cost effectiveness make this material the ideal choice for many applications. It
s not suited for applications where stiffness, high temperature resistance and structural strength are required. Polyethylene is susceptible to stress cracking when exposed to ultraviolet light and some chemicals. Wetting agents such as detergents accelerate stress cracking. Some copolymers of LDPE are available with improved stress-crack resistance.
