Deep drawing manufacturing technology is defined as the stretching of sheet metal stock, commonly referred to as a blank, around a plug. The edges of the metal blank are restrained by rings and the plug is deep drawn into a top die cavity to achieve the end shape that is desired. There are many shapes that can be made through deep drawing and stamping such as cups, pans, cylinders, domes & hemispheres, as well as irregular shaped products.

The deep drawn process is ideal for making parts such as wear-rings and escutcheons out of stainless steel for the hot tub industry, Sierra cups and cups for carbide grinding tools. There are many other applications for this process as well.

Water jet cutting is a process used to cut materials using a jet of high pressure water and abrasive sand. This water jet reaches pressures as high as 55, 000 pounds per square inch (psi). The combination of high pressure water and abrasive sand enables more materials to be cut cleanly to close tolerances, squarely and with a good edge finish. Our water jet machine is capable of cutting many industrial materials including stainless and carbon steel, armor plate, tool steel, aluminum, brass, copper, bronze, titanium, aluminum, rubber, plastic granite, wood and cardboard.

Ideal for making custom parts for the entertainment industry and designing new parts, our abrasive water jet cutter is a valuable resource to many customers. This process is good for short runs and decorative artwork required in the lighting industry.

We specialize making custom shaped dies for both punch press and press brake. Jay Manufacturing is more than just a metal stamping house. We can form and finish metal to meet your exact specifications.

Jay Manufacturing is happy to provide assembly work and finishing services for our customers. We provide in-house Riveting of hardware and components together. By using approved outside vendors, we also provide welded assemblies. Finishes such as Plating and Painting can be provided by approved outside vendors as well.

DEEP DRAWN AND STAMPED METAL PARTS

An expert in deep drawn metal forming techniques and metal stamping, Jay Manufacturing is a valued partner to many customers who require pump and valve parts, like hot tub and spa manufacturers. We make a wide assortment of quality wear-rings and escutcheons from stainless steel. Other deep drawn metal parts include Sierra cups and cups for carbide grinding tools. We also make stamped tension washers.

Metal stamping involves forming or piercing a piece of metal with a dedicated piece of tooling and stamping the piece with a mechanical or hydraulic press. During the metal stamping operation, the upper die is attached to the ram and the lower die is attached to the stationary bolster. As the press is activated, the ram moves vertically towards the bolster to form the piece of metal over the lower die. Metal stamping presses can perform a diverse range of operations such as blanking, piercing, coining, embossing, deep drawing and forming as well as combinations of these processes.

The metal stamping process is ideal for making parts for valves, lighting, aircraft, aerospace and inserts for molded rubber.

Formed features are created by bending material with custom or standard punch and die. Varying degrees of accuracy and repeatability are obtained depending on the metal forming method applied.
