Soda-lime glass is the most prevalent type of glass. Soda-lime is also known as float, clear, soda-lime silica. Soda-lime glass is prepared by melting the raw materials, such as soda, lime, silica, alumina, and small quantities of fining agents in a glass furnace at temperatures locally up to 1675C. Soda-lime sheet glass is made by floating molten glass on a bed of molten tin. This method gives the sheet uniform thickness and very flat surfaces. Soda-lime glass is the base material for most clear, colored and patterned glass types.
Soda-lime glass can be chemically tempered by JNS to increase mechanical strength and scratch resistance
Soda-lime glass can be heat strengthened or heat tempered by JNS to increase thermal shock resistance and mechanical strength
Soda-lime glass can be bent, laminated, machined, optically coated, chemically etched, sandblasted or colored
Soda-lime glass has good flatness and surface quality due to float process
JNS Glass & Coatings fabricated glass meets ASTM C 1036 standards
JNS Glass & Coatings heat strengthened and fully tempered glass meets ASTM C 1048 standards
For industrial application, JNS utilizes a wide range of manufacturers including Glaverbel, Pilkington, PPG, AGC, and Guardian
