To choose the proper storage device, you should first consider how coils are transported from the storage area and how they will be stored ahead of the process line.

Paper folding machines utilize polyurethane rollers and wheels to advance the paper forms through the machine at precise speeds. Kastalon Polyurethane Gripper Wheels are manufactured with a custom blended polyurethane that dramatically improves the effectiveness of the machine and provides a much longer life than other wheels or rolls.

For staging areas or storage of very large coils, the Coil-Saddle is the perfect solution.

The patented deep cradle fits virtually any size coil and takes up nominal floor space. The unique design offers the versatility of using it as a movable fixture in staging areas or affixed permanently to the storage area floor. Made of bright safety yellow polyurethane and reinforced steel frames, the Coil-Saddle surprisingly only weighs 45# and can be easily moved out of the way when not in use. This avoids tripping hazards, yet can handle up to a 72 diameter coil.

Another consideration is the fact that a very common cost cutting initiative in our industry has been to reduce packaging or wrapping of coils that are moved short distances throughout the supply chain. Not only does this relieve the production costs but processing time is reduced. The downside is that now the outer wrap is exposed and more easily scratched or dented, therefore, floor protection becomes even more important.

Kastalon specializes in designing segments to precisely match the hole pattern and leaf pattern of the mandrel. The segments are bolted into position, giving the same expansion range as the base drum. This provides the flexibility of handling 28-in to 32-in ID coils on a 20-in to 24-in drum and do not have to be adjusted during coil change-outs.

For an even greater reduction in maintenance time, Kastalon has designed "Lifting Rings" for loading the segments on and off the mandrels.
