As rigid borescopes became widely used, it became apparent that units with a long working length could be a valuable inspection tool in certain applications. However, the problems of transporting and storing very long optical instruments presented a number of logistical problems. To meet this need, Lenox Instrument introduced the concept of a sectional, extendable borescope. These units are modular in design and allow the user to add extender sections to provide very long working lengths. Originally developed in 1920 to inspect huge steam turbines, Lenox sectional borescopes were adopted by the U.S. Army during World War II to inspect gun barrels. Today, they are the industry standard for applications where uncompromising image quality and user control over length are critical. No other rigid borescope delivers such exceptional image resolution with this much length adaptability.

Lenox fiberscopes have solved some of the world's toughest inspection problems, in some of the most inaccessible and inhospitable places. Over the years, we've developed and refined fiberscope technology and taken it to the limit of what optical technology will allow. Lenox has developed a technique to ensure a highly uniform fiber configuration through the length of the probe, to produce the best possible image resolution and virtually zero distortion. We've also placed the objective lens at the distal tip for problem-free focusing.

These miniature borescopes are available with diameters as small as 0.5 mm. They deliver a clear, bright image from inside hypodermic needle tubing, through tiny vent holes in turbine blades and within miniature electronic assemblies. Both flexible and semi-rigid models are available, in lengths up to 600 in. Thanks to the choice of materials and innovative design, these instruments last longer than other miniature units in the industrial world. Their unique ability to tolerate tip deflections and moderate bending provides a much more rugged unit than alternative technologies. All Micro Borescopes are fully video capable and are compatible with other Lenox accessories such as the light source, video systems, etc.

Lenox industrial videoscope technology lets you enter openings as small as 5.3 mm, and inspect lengths up to 98.4 feet while viewing the image on a bright, high-resolution, LCD display. Depending on the job on hand, Lenox has a videoscope for you. Select from four-way articulating and non-articulating, direct viewing heads with fields of view of 70°, 80°, 120° and 360° pan 180° tiltable. Depending upon model, a variety of interchangeable viewing heads are available, including direct wide, direct telephoto, pan tilt, and right angle, adding versatility to the videoscope inspection system.
