Miniature wire pair protector (4-20 ma transmitter protector). 2 lines and ground. 0.50" X 0.68" X 1.25" H. AWG 16 insulated leads. Protection maximum 30 KA, 820 s line to line and each line to ground. Connections across the lines and to ground at or inside the equipment enclosure. Response less than a nanosecond. After initial breakdown clamping voltage immediately drops to 30V an any surge up to 30 KA of current. Automatic restoration to the line voltage after the surge passes.

Transmitter, 4-20 ma lightning and surge protector. Installation at the transmitter (or under the transmitter cover). Miniature in size, 12 X 58 X 114. Protection rating line to line and each line to ground, 30 KA on 820 s wave. Three AWG #16 leads, red to plus, black to minus, green to ground. Response less than one nanosecond. Initial clamp voltage 68V peak, dropping to 30V for one to 10, 000 amperes surge current. Bipolar operation, either polarity of surge equally clamped.

Dash numbers are assigned according to customer inputs on details such as : enclosure type N12, N4, N4X; remote alarm relays; light, medium, heavy, and extra heavy duty; other requirements.

LIGHTNING PROTECTION CORPORATION manufactures specialty gas-filled, non-radioactive, lightning and surge protective devices. These spark gap arresters come in a variety of surge current capabilities and physical dimensions, with two or three electrodes. The high temperature, ultra-pure electrodes are silver brazed to high alumina ceramics in vacuum and backfilled with inert gas mixtures. The entire cycle is automatically controlled by computer controlled equipment.

Surge current ratings are available to 150 KA for 820 s wave, to 10 KA for 101000 s wave, and to 50 KA for 10350 s wave. Breakdown voltage ratings range from 75 VDC minimum to 5000 VDC maximum.

Applications include protection of electronics, electrical control, grounding, isolation, railroad, pipeline, military, and any other industrial application where gas tube spark gap device is applicable.

Characteristics include bipolar and automatic operation. Device extinguishes on each current zero. Capacitance 0.5 to 5 pico farads. Resistance 10, 000 megohms in non-conducting state. In the arcing state a 15 to 25 volt drop occurs for one ampere to several thousand amperes.
