Marketech provides both metal and ceramic machined components for a variety of industries to companies worldwide. Our fully equipped on-site machine shop has earned the reputation for its ability to manufacture complex high-tolerance machined components. We take on what other traditional shops are afraid to touch. We specialize in machining explosive bonded materials and exotic metals such as titanium, tungsten alloys, tantalum, TZM, molybdenum, beryllium and hastelloy, outside of the regular aluminum, brass, copper, steels and various plastics such as nylon, acetels and polycarbonates. Capabilities include prototype machining, as well as large production runs, assemblies and metal fabrication services.

Marketech offers a wide variety of advanced ceramic materials and custom machined ceramic components for mechanical, wear resistant, electronic, and thermal applications. We have the capabilities to offer prototypes as well as high-volume components in a complete range of ceramic materials including alumina, zirconia, sapphire, magnesia, aluminum nitride, tungsten carbide, silicon nitride, and silicon carbide.

Single crystal sapphire has a unique combination of physical, chemical and optical properties allowing it to withstand high temperatures, high pressure, thermal shock, and water or sand erosion. It is chemically inert, with a low friction coefficient, and excellent electrical, optical, and dielectric characteristics. In addition, its radiation resistance makes it an excellent material for use in optical windows for space applications.

Marketech provides sapphire substrates, optics, and windows in either standard sizes or custom created for your application.

Marketech offers a complete line of standard silica, organic and carbon aerogels. Standard aerogel products that are available from stock include monoliths, ingots, random pieces, powders and composite papers.

Electrically conductive carbon nanofoams have many of the properties of traditional aerogel material. This unique class of porous materials is available in the form of monoliths, granules, powders and papers. They are synthetic, lightweight foams in which the solid matrix and pore spaces have nanometer-scale dimensions. Prepared by sol-gel methods, nanofoams typically have low density, continuous porosity, high surface area, and fine cellpore sizes. The foams are also electrically conductive and have a high capacitance.

Standard densities of carbon nanofoams range from 0.25 to 1.00 gcm3. Carbon nanofoams precursors can be infiltrated into a carbon fiber mat that, when carbonized, will result in paper-like electrode material 0.007 to 0.050" thick.

Morphology examination by scanning electron microscope shows an open cell structure and continuous porosity. The particle size and pore spacing is a function of density and the polymerization chemistry used during the sol-gel process.

Low density carbon nanofoams (0.25 gcm3) have the largest cellpore size with particle diameters of up to 100 nm and pores at least 500 nm. High density carbon foams (abt. 0.8 gcm3) have ultra fine particles and pores of less than 1000

Silica aerogels are the most common of the aerogel varieties. The main reasons for their popularity are probably their unusual wispy look (they have been described as looking like frozen smoke) and their highly publicized applications in space experiments where they are used to insulate electronics on the MARS rovers and they have been used to collect space-dust and comet particles returned to EARTH for analysis. Silica aerogel is renowned as the lightest and lowest-density solid material known, at barely more than the density of air. Silica aerogel has a porous, sponge-like structure in which greater than 98 percent of its volume is empty space (air). By comparison, silica aerogel is 1, 000 times less dense than glass. Even though the silica aerogel is mostly air, one of its remarkable features is that it can support more than 10, 000 times its own weight. Silica aerogel can have a very large surface area within its bulk, ranging from 500 to 1500 square meters per gram, depending on its density. This means that if flattened-out, one inch cube of the aerogel would have more surface area than an entire football field! Silica aerogel is also known for its low density, low thermal conductivity, low sound speed, low refractive index and high transparency
