Brass

Brass alloys have several desirable qualities and they are relatively easy to produce, so brass is a very popular metal alloy for products and applications in several industries. From door knobs to pipe fittings, brass of one kind or another can be found in most commercial and residential buildings. Brass alloys are also commonly used in electronic devices like watches because they are non-magnetic.

Metal Associates can fulfill its customers brass needs from brass plates to brass round, flat and square wire. Brass is a mixture of copper and zinc, which has a harder finish than copper alone. We supply brass to customers for a variety of applications due to its durability and looks. Brass is a solid material, making it strong, hard, and formable. Brass exhibits many of the physical properties of pure copper and is also recyclable. Typically, brass is comprised of 67% copper and 33% zinc. Generally, the more zinc, the lighter the color of the brass. Though zinc will always be the second most prevalent metal in brass, the addition of other metals such as tin, arsenic, iron and antimony are commonly included to further improve the physical and mechanical properties of the alloy.

Copper Bars

Metal Associates can fulfill its customers copper needs from copper sheets to custom copper bars. Our copper is distributed to customers for a multitude of commercial and industrial applications due to its useful and varying properties. Copper is very versatile, malleable, and conductor of heat and electricity. Although copper is soft in its pure state, copper can be mixed with other alloys to create much stronger characteristics such as brass, which is copper and zinc, and bronze, which is copper and tin. It can also be alloyed with aluminum, steel, silver and nickel to enhance its own properties. Since copper is also resistant to harsh temperatures and environments, chemicals and moisture, it can be used in both indoor and outdoor applications. Whatever the application, let Metal Associates be your next copper supplier.

High Purity Metals

Metal Associates offers our clients high purity metals of all sorts in order to benefit those applications that require the best quality and highest performances. Some of the different applications for which high purity materials are required include research, development, sanitary andor sensitive laboratory work and the production of advanced technologies. High purity metal materials are of a higher quality than other metal materials and have a wide variety of different advantageous properties. For example, some are magnetic, while others are thermoelectric, phosphor andor semiconducting. High purity materials like these include aluminum, brass, bronze, carbon steel, copper, tungsten and zirconium, among others. (EXISTING:) These highly pure metals are used in the creation of fluorescent lighting, plasma screens, LEDs, high-precision lenses and optics, electronic sensors, electronic watches, high precision computer components, advanced ceramics, thermal barrier coatings, lasers, commercial food and beverage tools and more.

Stainless Steel

Because steel is strong but relatively inexpensive when compared to many other metals, its a popular material for many large and small building products and mechanical frames. Steel is also a good material to form using metal working tools, meaning that holes can be punched in it to house bolts and cut outs for other parts of a piece of equipment. Steel from Metal Associates is used in applications like:

Bronze

Metal Associates can fulfill its customers bronze needs from bronze sheets to bronze foil. Like brass, bronze is one of the more popular of copper alloys, making it the most commonly used alloy of this non-ferrous metals. The mixture of tin and copper results in bronze, an alloy that is less brittle than tin and iron, but harder and more durable than pure copper. The exact amount of copper in bronze is extremely variable and ranger from 60% to nearly 90% in some commercial grades. The second most prevalent element in bronze is tin, which is also variable commonly composing between 12% and 40% of the alloy. Bronze metal is easier to melt, making it easier to make products from bonze basting. Additional elements such as manganese, lead, zinc, silver, phosphorous, arsenic can also be added to enhance specific features of special-purpose bronzes. These and other less complex varieties of bronze are available to suit a wide range of industrial applications.

Waveguides

  • Item WR187
  • Nominal Frequency Range 3.94 - 5.99 GHz
  • WR (EIA) 187
Metal Associates is an exclusive waveguide distributor for copper and bronze manufacturers in the USA. We are also an exclusive waveguide tube distributor for an aluminum manufacturing mill that is located in the UK.

Waveguides can be used to guide any particular type of wave such as sound waves, electromagnetic waves or radio waves. Waveguides are not new, but we now understand more about how they work so that they can be manufactured for many different uses. Today, waveguide technology is used in everything from optic fibres to microwaves to radars.

Particular waveguides are purchased to suit the type of wave characteristic in order to efficiently control the waves.

Waveguides can be manufactured from dielectric or conductive materials depending on the wave frequency. In some situations, waveguides are used to transfer communication signals, as well as power. There are a number of ways Metal Associates can create your waveguide solutions. Well work with you to determine exactly which machining process is best for your application.

Lock Wire

  • Item NC20
  • Alloy Ni-Cu Monel
  • Inside Diameter 0.020 in
Metal Associates works with wire manufacturers that custom draw round, flat, square and shaped wire to your exact specifications.

We supply our customers lock wire and safety wire needs in a variety of gauges and materials, depending on the application. Lockwire or safety wire is used as a positive locking device to prevent the loosening or falling out of fasteners from factors such as vibration, and can also be used to show that a fastener has been tightened properly. It is commonly used in aerospace and car industries for throttle assemblies or safety guards where extreme reliability is needed. When using lock wire, it is threaded through a hole in the fastener, twisted, then anchored to a second fastener, and twisted again.

Whatever application or lock wire need you may have, Metal Associates can supply you with the most reliable safety wire products.

In addition to the alloys below, Metal Associates is now a supplier of Cadmium Plated Copper Wire (lock wire) in CY10, CY13, CY15, CY20, CY32, and CY40 Coppers.

Lock Wire Applications
Metal assemblies with fasteners are common in many different industries. Most machinery is fitted together with fasteners and can be subject to heavy impacts and vibrations during operation. Lock wire is used in applications like these to prevent the fastener from moving. Some examples of this include:
Airplane cabins
Automotive assemblies
Specialize machine parts
Heavy duty U bolt locks
Pipe fittings
Metal Associates is proud to supply locking wire to industries who need to build their products with a high degree of safety and reliability.
