The use of extruded seals is extremely diverse. You will find extrusions in many types of manufacturing processes for a variety of purposes. Applications include, but are not limited to: door and window seals in the architectural environment and automotive, appliance and aircraft industries; bearing seals; bumpers; heater gaskets; radiator overflow tubing; vacuum cleaner belts; ladder foot grips, and cushions on bars or handles. The applications are endless and expanding rapidly with innovative engineering of extrudable materials.
Gasket applications cover a large spectrum of materials ranging from acrylic and aluminum to Viton® and Teflon®. Your gasket manufacturing options are as varied as Die Cutting, Lathe Cutting, Kiss Cutting and Rotary Cutting. Monroe Seals has over 40 years of gasket experience, working with the materials listed below for a wide range of applications. We understand the importance of a proper gasket and the cost considerations. One very cost effective method of cutting gaskets is utilizing steel rule dies; others are lathe-cutting and thropcutting. Not all methods will produce the same tolerances and some materials only lend themselves to certain methods of manufacturing. Perhaps you have a critical dimension, this may require a hardened steel tool or perhaps it will be best produced by water jet cutting or even molding. Gaskets can also be produced from extruded rubber profiles cut to length and vulcanized to form continuous custom gaskets. For larger gaskets we can incorporate interlocking or “dove tailed” parts. Many of the materials listed below can be offered with pressure sensitive adhesives on one or both sides, when bolt holes or mounting pins are not an option.

Uses the hot splicingvulcanizing process to chemically bond two ends of a rubber extrusion together. By creating an endless seal, the gasket is more impermeable to the elements. Monroe Seals can vulcanize extruded rubber into circles, squares, and a variety of other shapes. From simple spliced O-rings, vulcanized window gaskets and vulcanized frame gaskets, to spliced seals and vulcanized corners, we can manufacture the right endless gasket for your requirements. There are a number of vulcanized splice types. Round cord or irregular profiles may be vulcanized to endless gaskets. Applications such as window frame gaskets, door gaskets, filter housing gaskets and lid gaskets. The uses are as unlimited as your imagination will allow.
SBR is a good economical grade of all purpose rubber. It has no unique chemical resistance properties. It can be readily substituted for natural rubber. It is a staple in the HVAC and construction industries, as it is versatile, tough and stands up.
