Gantry Cranes

Many buildings today are designed with long unsupported spans which provide a more open and less obstructed floor area, making the gantry crane a viable and economical solution as it travels on the plant floor eliminating the need for concrete foundations, runway columns and beam structures that take away from the desired open floor space.

Industrial strip malls and leased properties are now home to many small to medium sized manufacturing companies. These buildings are not typically designed to support the dynamic loadings imposed by an overhead crane. Again, the gantry crane proves to be a viable and economical solution, with it's self supporting design, the gantry crane can provide your overhead material handling needs with the advantage of not compromising the integrity of the building and providing the business owner with portability to easily move the gantry to a future location.

Many companies have now adopted the "lean" manufacturing system where the plant is divided into "cell" process areas. Having a specific process integrated within a larger process. For example: The main process area has an existing overhead bridge crane with a span of 50 feet, a specific cell process in the same bay requires a dedicated crane with only a 20 foot span. A semi-gantry crane is ideal as it utilizes one side of the existing overhead runway and the self- supporting leg at the other side running on the plant floor.
Munck "Tracker" Gantry
The Little Crane With A One Track Mind!

The tracker is the modern economical answer to material handling where building design and cost make a standard crane and runway prohibitive. The tracker operates with one leg forced to an end track equipped with guided steel wheels running on a square bar rail elevated 1 12" on steel supports that are bolted to the floor. This allows power, water, or airlines to pass under the rail. The other leg is equipped with high durability urethane covered flat tread wheels which run directly on the flat concrete floor with no guidance system. The tracker is easily installed on any smooth concrete floor and the floor track, on one side, is readily removable or expandable should you wish to move the system to another location. More than one tracker can be placed on the same track with ease.

Installation of the tracker is simple, with it's pre-engineered kit design, the tracker is bolted and pre-wired electrical connections make it easy to assemble. If you don't feel confident assembling the tracker yourself, your local Munck Cranes Inc Technician is fully equipped to do the job economically for you.

The tracker is available in full and Semi-Gantry design with capabilities of one to 5 tonnes. Standard spans up to 30 feet and lifts from 8 to 20 feet with single or two-speed motions.

The tracker is a bold approach to material handling with economy and versatility in mind.

Runways

The rails, beams and columns on which the crane operates. The rail, on which th end trucks run, is fastened to the runway beam.
This beam is then supported on columns (Top Running) or from the roof structure (Under Running). The existing building columns can be used or new ones can be supplied with the system. New columns can either be completely Free Standing or Tied Back to the existing building structure for additional lateral support. When designing a runway system that is to use existing building columns, it is important to provide the down shop center to center spacing between them. Conductors supply power to the crane and are mounted on the runway beam.
Munck Cranes Inc. will design and fabricate a crane runway system to specifically meet the needs of your application and environment with economy and safety in mind. Our runway systems are designed and certified by our in-house professional engineer. You may have an existing crane runway system and are thinking of adding another crane or verifying the integrity of the system for an increase in capacity andor adding bays for and expansion Munck Cranes Inc. can perform a comprehensive runway system analysis with a detailed report to assist in your facilities planning.
If you have any questions regarding your crane runway system, you can use our Ask an Engineer service or Contact Munck to speak with us directly.

Radio Remote Controls

The radio control operates exactly like the pendant but operates using a radio frequency instead of control cables attached to the crane. The radio control system is comprised of two main components; the radio transmitter, (handheld device) and the radio receiver, (control box attached to crane or hoist). The radio control incorporates numerous safety features and allows the operator a greater range mobility than a pendant station.
MunckTeleradio System 860 - Powerful and Safe
It is no surprise that MUNCK has partnered with TELE RADIO. For almost five decades, TELE RADIO has been developing radio control systems using state of the art technology with unprecedented safety in mind. Using radio control technology to operate cranes and hoists while eliminating awkward working postures is a matter of course in todays working environment, particularly as it means fewer workplace injuries and greater freedom of movement.
With the MUNCKTELE RADIO System 860, we have taken another important step forward in radio control development, especially when it comes to safety and strength. A lot of environments today require equipment that can meet the extremely high standards of safety. For instance, in the overhead crane industry, these standards safeguard the safety of people and production.
The System 860 combines strength and power. It also incorporates safety and reliability, all in one system. MUNCK gives high priority to these factors and todays market expects nothing less. When it comes to radio control, you can choose the MUNCKTELE RADIO System 860 with confidence. Safety awareness has been the predominant feature in the systems development. This has given the system its in-built stop function, the option of individual PIN codes and safety circuit breakers that are monitored by double microprocessors.
When standards are high, choose the right equipment.
When the environment expects the utmost of people and technology, it is vital to make the right choice of radio control equipment. Safety standards are high. This is where the MUNCKTELE RADIO System 860 is an obvious choice. The 860 gives you powerful and safe control, with many built-in intelligent functions as standard.
