Feeding Devices

Maximum productivity depends on fast, accurate delivery of rivets and parts to the riveter. For example, National Rivet often recommends the use vibratory feeders to deliver rivets, unusually shaped cold headed parts, washers, electrical contacts, coil springs, spacers and other parts accurately and with great repeatability. Similarly, we can design systems to transfer parts to the machine via slide, tube or automatic placement device.

Compensators

Compensators enable riveting machines to accommodate varying work thicknesses. Anvil arm compensators allow the anvil to move vertically as the rivet is driven down through the work, supporting the anvil with spring or air pressure. Top pin compensators work in a similar fashion, except that they use a spring-loaded top pivot pin. With either model, pressure can be adjusted so that each rivet is set with the same amount of pressure regardless of part thickness.

Customized Fixtures

Positioning fixtures are stationary fixtures designed to hold one or more components in place for positive alignment during riveting (positive alignment is critical for consistent results!).

Movable fixtures can improve production efficiency and operator safety. We can engineer fixtures to move manually or automatically, as well as incorporate multiple positive stops or interlocks. Moveable fixtures allow a single machine to set multiple rivets in a part or component, or they can orient and support the part in such a way that one person can do the work of two.

Old Rivet Setting Machines

Sell Us Your Used Riveter

Sell Us your used riveter
National Rivet Buys Old Rivet Setting Machines
If you have a used rivet setting machine to sell, please contact National Rivet.

We buy old riveters straight out, or you can apply the cash you would receive toward the purchase of a new National Rivet machine.

When selling a machine, please provide us with the Model, serial number and condition of the unit (Working or not, and note any known issues). Please send photos, as they will help us decide on our offer.

National Rivet does not guarantee the purchase of all models. Currently, we provide the best price for Model 600s, 800s and 1000s.

Reconditioned Riveter Setting Machines

Reconditioned and Used Riveting Machines

Used Riveting Machines
Reconditioned Riveter Setting Machines
Just like some people favor buying used cars, there are people who prefer to purchase reconditioned riveters. But dont confuse a reconditioned National Rivet rivet setting machine with any old used, retooled or rebuilt riveter.

As part of National Rivets rigorous process, we:

Completely tear down the machine
Thoroughly inspect every component
Replace all worn parts, which may include bushings, pins, clutches, linkages, anvils, jaws, drivers, hoppers, arms and accessories
Paint the unit for a near-new appearance
Thoroughly test the unit in-house before we release it
At National Rivet, our fully reconditioned riveters provide like-new performance and come with a like-new warranty. People count on reconditioned riveters for decades of additional performance -- and thousands of dollars of savings -- compared to buying new.

Brake & Clutch Riveting Machines

National Rivets brake and clutch rivet setting machines lead the industry. If you build brake pads and clutches, or if you re-line brakes for buses, trucks and other heavy vehicles, we can help you reduce or eliminate scrap and improve productivity.

Our brake and clutch riveters are known for their rapid cycle times and consistent setting performance. They have the ability to compensate for part thickness and hole location variations, overcoming situations that would otherwise deform parts.

If you have issues with excess scrap or loose rivets, or if you need to meet higher production goals, National Rivets engineers welcome customer questions. As a single-source provider of fastening systems, our engineers can isolate, identify and diagnose problems that others cant. We can listen to your needs, run tests and prototypes in our labs and provide you with a new, more productive alternative. In fact, custom building brake and clutch machines is the norm at National Rivet.

National Rivet Electromechanical Rivet Setters with Top Pin Compensator Provide Solution to Cracked Brake Lining Issues, Offer Faster Cycle Times

Designed with the brake shoe industry in mind, National Rivet's Model 800 and 1000 rivet setters with top pin compensator provide consistent rivet sets and eliminate cracked brake lining issues. With a pre-load tension set for different size rivets, the top pin compensator counteracts variable work thickness up to 116 in. The top pin compensator provides a simpler solution than traditionally used arm springs, which are difficult to adjust. The pin is driven by a unique toggle linkage and rocker arm with the pre-loaded spring. As a result, these versions of the Model 800 and 1000 ensure sufficient force to achieve consistent rivet sets, help avoid cracks when lining is too thick and maintain rivet torque requirements if the lining is too thin.

Hybrid AirOil Riveter Combines Speed & Power
Plus Compensates for Part Variations

National Rivets new Model 3000 hybrid airoil machine offers a 0.6 second cycle time and the force necessary to set a 38-in. rivet. Designed for bus brake re-lining and other applications requiring a combination of speed and power, the Model 3000 also compensates for variations in part thickness or rivet length to ensure tight settings without crushing the part. Its direct acting, in-line driver design reduces wear points, while a unitized steel column and head design minimizes deflection and retains precision alignment between the anvil and the driver.

Shuttle Fixture

Shuttle Fixture. A shuttle fixture allows a machine operator to load the component parts safely over the anvil outside of the riveting area. The parts can then be shuttled into position to complete the riveting operation. The point of operation can be guarded by either dual anti-tiedown safety switches or a single switch plus an electrical interlock placed at the shuttle fixture in stop position.

Safety Gas Analyzer

Safety Probe. A safety probe is an electrically actuated device that drops a ring from the upper-most position of the jaws and encircles the entire area under the driver when the machine is tripped. If there is any obstruction between the driver and the anvil (the operators fingers, for example), the machine will not cycle.

Dual Anti Tiedown Safety Switches

Dual Anti-Tiedown Safety Switches. This type of installation requires the operator to use both hands to actuate the machine. A pre-set time delay requires the operator to press moth switches almost simultaneously to cycle the machine, ensuring that the operators hands are safely away from the riveting area. The use of dual switches often requires a work support or holding fixture to position the parts over the anvil.
