We’ve had several requests from European clients to carry Amaranth Seed CO2 in the past year or so and I have since learned it is an European anti-aging secret. The Amaranth plant itself has been cultivated and used since ancient times and was considered sacred by the Incas and Aztecs. While it is not as well known in the United States, it is widely used and praised internationally for skin care. If you love the effects of our Pomegranate CO2, then Amaranth Seed CO2 is definitely worth exploring! Please note the Amaranth is not nearly as thick as our Pomegranate extract. It is very light and absorbs amazingly quickly.
Angelica was known in the middle ages as “The Angels Herb” for its almost miraculous healing strength. In the past, it was used to purify the blood, and as an antidote to poisoning. It was believed to be the remedy for all infectious diseases. The essential oil is wonderful for fatigue and for stress-related illnesses. Emotionally and spiritually it is helpful for those who need grounding, or who are searching for reality.
Ammi Visnaga Oil is a powerful bronchial antispasmodic which can lead to freedom from allergic bronchial asthma. All my sources indicate, when inhaled, it can be a powerful weapon against asthma, especially bronchial asthma. Any essential oil can trigger an asthma attack, more or less at random. Among those who suffer from this disease, however, Amni Visnaga Essential Oil appears to actually ease the attack away, by both relaxing the bronchial spasms and by dilating the bronchia. For this reason, inhalation could prove helpful for both asthma and bronchitis.
Fresh from Oz, another new unique essential oil specimen: Balm Mint Bush (Prostanthera Melissifolia). Delightful, fresh, and uplifting are words that come to mind upon first inhalation. Its pleasing aroma presents mint entwined with a sweet soft floral ascending into a camphoraceous, herbaceous array reminiscent of Eucalyptus or Ravintsara due to the 1, 8 cineole content, which is one of four bountiful components. (The others are piperitone, a-pinene, linalool.)
In 2002 ago we brought in a tiny amount of this rarity. At the time, I wrote: “Deep, woody, earthy, stable and strong...if rocks had roots they would smell like this distillation of agarwood. Amazingly tenacious. Aphrodisiac, unforgettable. The aroma speaks to your spirit for hours. A smidgeon on a scent strip lingers for hours, and reverberates inside our spirit. VERY limited supply. I can’t BELIEVE I found this rarity!”
Historically, the leaves of the bay laurel were used to crown the victor. This essential oil derived from bay leaves used in cooking has a wonderfully spicy aroma. Laurel is an antibacterial oil, specifically recommended in a steam inhalation for tonsillitis or added to any cold and flu blend. It is said to be strongly anti-viral, as well. Some resources recommend its use in combatting or preventing any virus which attacks the respiratory system.
