Hot upset riveting is a permanent part assembly process that combines electrical current with pressure and time to compress and expand a boss or rivet to a desired diameter and shape. Generally, hot upset riveting is applied when there are special circumstances such as hardened materials being formed, a requirement to accomplish maximum hole fill, or when it is critical to provide resistance to vibration related fatigue.

Orbitform designs and manufactures articulating roller forming machines to help improve the quality, productivity, consistency, and control of your assembly process. The articulating roller forming process allows parts to be formed from the side when there is an obstruction preventing direct vertical engagement. The articulating function allows the roller head to advance vertically around the part and then allows the rollers to contract toward the center to apply the roller forming process to crimp, flare, groove, roll, or seal the outside diameter of the work piece.

Orbitforms M-125 powerhead is perfectly suited for small work piece orbital riveting and orbital cold forming assembly procedures. The heavy duty and compact design of the orbital forming powerhead is commonly used to assemble electrical components, medical devices, computer hardware, small hand tools and other small scale riveted assemblies. The Orbitform anti-rotate devices are mounted on multi-point forming heads and on some orbital heads when the specific orientation of forming is important to the assembly application or when it is important to prevent reduce galling or rubbing between the peen tool and the rivet.
