This exhaust system is FAA approved by STC (Supplemental Type Certificate) for all A1, A1A, A1B and A1C-180 models powered by Lycoming O-360 engines.

Robinson Helicopter

nstalling a Power Flow tuned exhaust provides the same performance benefits as upgrading to a Beta II, at a fraction of the cost. It is true bolt-on horsepower for your O-320 powered Robinson R22 Alpha or Beta.

You simply remove your old, restrictive factory exhaust system and bolt-on a Power Flow for instant results you can see, feel, and hear. You then operate your helicopter to the Beta II engine performance limitations. The same technology that has been used in race cars, motorcycles, and over 4, 300 certified aircraft currently equipped with Power Flows Tuned Exhaust System is now available for your O-320 powered R22 helicopter.
Tuned Exhaust System is designed to use the exhaust gases from each cylinder to help empty the other cylinders, rather than having those exhaust pulses interfere with each other. The factory exhaust system is a very simple design with two exhaust headers entering a central muffler chamber from each side with no separation of the exhaust pulses. The pulses enter the chamber with no particular path to follow. Some leave through the tailpipe, some stay in the muffler (creating back pressure) and some even go back up the other header pipes causing further back pressure.

Our system specifically times each exhaust pulse to create a low pressure (suction) at the cylinders exhaust valve when the valve is ready to open. This empties the cylinder more completely allowing for more power to be generated. The exhaust gases then exit the tailpipe without interference from the other cylinders.

Beechcraft Bonanza

Power Flow Systems, Inc. has been hard at work developing a potential exhaust system for the Beechcraft Bonanza. This will be our first six cylinder exhaust system, so all existing PFS exhaust designs would not come close to fitting. It requires a "clean-sheet" design to fit inside the cowling while accommodating the necessary length for increased performance.

PFS is happy to announce that we have designed an exhaust that meets all of our design parameters and delivers substantial improvements in the performance of the Beech Bonanza. At this point, all of our developmental testing has been done on only one aircraft, our A36, N9066S with an IO-520 engine. The exhaust and certification are planned for Bonanzas configured with the IO-520 engine first, with the IO-470 and IO-550 engines to follow.

Based on over 3700 Power Flow equipped aircraft flying today, we feel that the performance we are seeing should represent "the average" aircraft. As is normally the case, some aircraft will respond even better to the tuned exhaust, while some may not respond quite as well.

Due to the unique design, we do not want to fully commit to the high cost of FAA certification and production tooling of the exhaust unless a significant number of Bonanza owners will commit to the purchase of the exhaust.
