A local Savannah, Georgia customer specializing in bridge construction requested customized hole drilling in varying locations on urethane discs. These discs are used to isolate vibration and noise for bridge building applications. The project required through holes to be cut in different locations in 6" thick urethane. Each disc was 12" in diameter and required hole tolerances at .030", which we completed using our Flow IFB Waterjet equipment a capability that is typically out of our normal cutting range. In addition, our team had to create a jig for every single disc as each hole was cut on an angle. Our team met the challenge and was able to produce 300 discs in less than 90 days.

After testing, the customer concluded that the discs were doing the job well by successfully isolating vibration and reducing noise. Using our over 30 years of expertise, we were capable of working beyond our high-tech equipments standard capabilities.

A customer from Milwaukee, Wisconsin who supplies rubber parts to the railroad industry requested production of cable cleats. These parts have a dimension of 4" x 1" x 1 " and required a tolerance of .005". The job was to be done on a recurring basis, producing 100 pieces per month and made from 60 durometer neoprene. Our team used our customized Flow A-Series Waterjet unit to cut 1 " sections from a 48" x 108" slab with 1 " thickness. To perform this task, we also had to create a customized jig to meet the customers specifications.

These were to be made with extremely tight tolerances. These parts are typically molded, but no cost of mold production was necessary because our waterjet technology could cut the part to exact customer specifications. This also allowed our team to work with the customer and maintain flexibility in the design process without incurring the costs of changing mold design. Since we can easily CNC program new design changes to the cable cleat, the customer was able to achieve greater design flexibility and significant long-term savings.

As a result, our team now performs large volume work for our customer. Using waterjet cutting, they could completely eliminate mold considerations and allow us to produce cable cleats in large volumes. Our work with the customer continues and we are now able to accommodate any last minute design changes or production increases in the future. After purchasing a quantity of small pipe pieces from one of our customers, we made them aware of our ability to precisely split and drill pipe using waterjet cutting. The Savannah, Georgia customer immediately recognized the value in what we were doing; realizing that our cutting solutions could solve a problem they had recently encountered. Our team was contracted to split 500 units of 8" x 120" wastewatersewage pipe with a tolerance of + 0.010". The 304 stainless steel pipe had a wall thickness of 18" and outer diameter of 8". Using our CNC based Flow IFB Waterjet equipment; we were able to think outside the box in our approach to the project. We implemented our innovative splitting techniques via waterjet cutting to successfully complete 500 units of pipe and delivered it to the customer in less than 1 week.

Our large cutting bed of 6 x 12 allows for production of large parts and gave us the ability to handle large volumes of bulky pipe for the customer with fast turnaround time and an emphasis on precision. Our customer was extremely pleased with the results and has since brought additional projects to us.

One of our customers working on the new Westside High School in Augusta, Georgia required vinyl composite flooring for 29 classrooms. Each vinyl composite tile measures 36" x 36" in size and required a tolerance of .020". The project was to be completed in less than 8 weeks.

Using our Flow A-Series Waterjet machine, we were able to cut inlays into various flooring substrates for construction, home dcor, and graphic arts applications. The large quantity of tiling required to fill 29 new classrooms may seem daunting; however, our team was able to improvise by laying out and tagging each individual section of tile reproducing entire classroom floors within our facility. This helped our team create a visual reference of each tile along with matching inlays and patterning. As a result, we were able to produce each tile to the customers specifications quickly and accurately.

Our customer was extremely pleased with the results. From design to production, the tiles were both precise as well as aesthetically pleasing. They continue to use us for additional projects and are continuously impressed by the overall quality and planning of our work. Our customer in North Georgia required less than 1 week turnaround time and delivery for specialized molds which are pressed into rubber or carpet used in matting. The parts were to be made from " thick 6061 T6 Aluminum and the dimensions varied in size from 2 x 3 to 5 x 12; including a required tolerance of .015". Using our CNC controlled Flow IFB Waterjet equipment; were able to precision cut a wide range of materials into complex shapes with accuracies as close as +- .005".

In order to meet our customers requirements, our team worked around the clock. Each mold required 15-20 hours of work and involved extensive operator intervention, hours of CAD programming, and analysis to ensure the work met our customers specifications. The project was successfully delivered on time and to the requested standards, fulfilling our customers expectations. A local Mica processing customer located in Port Wentworth, Georgia was due to replace the concrete barrier surrounding their process reactor. The barrier originally prevented chemical attack and repelled overspray during operation. Searching for a reliable alternative, our customer requested us on-site to measure the circumference and diameter of holes located around the floor of the reactor. These calculations were required for our CADCAM operators design work. Our team concluded that the design would be made from " UHMW plastic, 1" UHMW plastic, and " EPDM rubber. Both materials required the use of our in-house abrasive and straight waterjet cutting equipment as well as our drill motor. The waterjet equipment fabricated the plastic and rubber; cutting dovetail sections that would allow the customer to position the barrier and splashguard in place without additional measurements. A drill motor was necessary to fasten the assembly with screws. As a result, we were essentially producing a large interlocking gasket that would go around the perimeter of the reactor for enhanced protection.

The original reactor barrier was made from concrete; however there is an extensive selection of materials just as capable of doing the job. In this case, UHMW plastic and EPDM rubber was an ideal replacement for concrete. In less than 1 week, were able to produce and install the barrier. It fit perfectly and no additional modifications to the reactor were necessary. For each barrier produced, we saved the customer over $500 in manufacturing when compared to using a concrete design. As a result, our customer has committed to designing and fabricating five additional barriers over the next year.
