EDM DIE BLANKS

  • Diameters 004
EDM (Electrical Discharge Machining) is a machining method primarily used for hard metals that would be very difficult to machine with traditional techniques. EDM typically works with materials that are electrically conductive. EDM can cut intricate contours or cavities in pre-hardened steel without the need for heat treatment to soften and re-harden them.

Precision Punch Corporation offers a complete line of EDM die blanks that are manufactured from the industrys highest grade tool steels and are produced to comply with NAPMA, ISO 9001, ISO 13485 and alternative internationally accepted standards. All standard components are completely interchangeable with reputable competing brands.

Precision Punch Corporation offers a complete line of standard EDM die blanks and has the engineering expertise and experience to provide special and custom EDM die blanks for our customers existing as well as new applications. Our special and custom tooling results in our customers having improved in-plant productivity and quality performance as well as reduced manufacturing cost.

Precision Punch capabilities include but are not limited to:

EJECTOR PUNCH BLANKS

  • Lengths 12
An ejector punch blank is made from high speed tool steel and manufactured to a standard shape or customer desired form that is ready for final processing and differentiation of an ejector punch at the discretion of the end user. Having ejector punch blanks in stock allows the end user to manufacture tooling when needed and avoid long lead-times as well as allowing for a quick response to emergencies. Precision Punch Corporation offers a premium line of standard and custom punch blanks that are manufactured to industry leading precision with respect to dimensional tolerances and concentricity. Precision Punch Corporation offers a complete line of standard ejector punch blanks and has the engineering expertise and experience to provide special and custom ejector punch blanks for our customers existing as well as new applications. Our special and custom tooling results in our customers having improved in-plant productivity and quality performance as well as reduced manufacturing cost.

Precision Punch Perforators

Perforating is a process of creating holes in a part in an organized fashion to meet customer needs. A perforator is the tool used to pierce the metal material (typically). The hole generated is called a perforation. Precision Punch perforators are the preferred tool for piercing operation by tool room supervisors and engineers throughout North America because they are manufactured to exact tolerances and concentricity for superior performance.

Precision Punch is located in Berlin, Connecticut. Our engineers understand that the durability of a perforator is dependent upon the induced stress levels relative to the ultimate strength of the raw material used to manufacture the perforator. This is why our engineers are constantly researching, testing and identifying superior raw material sources from all around the world and ultimately provide our customers with raw materials that have demonstrated superior performance. Since most perforating components are made of tool steel having an ultimate tensile strength of 300, 000 psi, our engineers know that controlling the contact area will result in improve durability. Additionally a minimum on the punch point or chamfer on the perforator can increase contact area resulting in lower stress value, which will typically result in less edge chipping. Our engineers understand that increasing shank diameter will distribute the load over a larger area and reduce the stress resulting in less head breakage.

Superior raw materials and exceptional engineering combined with a manufacturing facility deeply committed to world class Lean Manufacturing processes and Six Sigma methodologies have resulted in Precision Punch Corporation providing the Perforation Industry with the highest quality perforators available.

PRECISION CORE PINS

  • Lengths 12
Core pins are used in the plastic molding and die casting dies. They are a fixed element used to create a void providing the desired shape in the molded or cast part. It is often easier to machine a core pin as a separate element and add it to the A-side or B-side as needed. Steel core pins are sometimes used in aluminum molds to create tall, thin cores that might be too fragile if machined out of the bulk aluminum of the mold. The pins are also used for part ejection from a die.

Note:

A-Side is sometimes called the cavity it is the half of the mold that usually creates the exterior of a cosmetic part. The A-side usually does not have moving parts built into it.

B-Side is sometimes called the core it is the half of the mold where ejectors, side-action cams and the other complex components are located. On a cosmetic part, the B-side usually creates the inside of the part.

Custom Core Pins
Precision Punch Corporation offers a complete line of standard core pins and has the engineering expertise and experience to provide special and custom core pins for our customers existing as well as new applications. Our special and custom tooling results in our customers having improved in-plant productivity and quality performance as well as reduced manufacturing cost.

Die Buttons

  • Diameters .004
A die button is hardened steel that provides the opposing cutting edge for a punch during the punching process. During this operation the slug or blank being stamped, passes through the opening of the die button.

Precision Punch Corporation offers a complete line of die buttons with a choice of styles and tolerance ranges to fit you needs. All die buttons are manufactured from the industrys highest grade tool steels and are produced to comply with NAPMA, ISO 9001, ISO 13485 and alternative internationally accepted standards. All standard components are completely interchangeable with reputable competing brands.
