Many of these facilities start out with mid-sized rectangular-vessel medical-grade sterilizers. These are great for quickly processing flat trays of medical instruments, but not great at anything else. This becomes more pronounced as the autoclave gets bigger: As rectangular chambers grow, operating costs and maintenance headaches can climb exponentially. Cylindrical-vessel front-loading sterilizers eliminate chamber corners, making for a more reliable device. Improved steam circulation prevents cold pockets, minimizing heating and cooling while ensuring properly processed loads. The cost-savings associated with moving to a cylindrical vessel sterilizer are also impressive. A lower part count, more efficient steam generation, and lighter-gauge pressure vessel don’t just reduce the purchase price and nearly eliminate maintenance downtime: On an annual basis, a cylindrical-vessel front-loading autoclave can be expected to use 75% less energy and 87% less water than comparable “energywater saving” rectangular models. Every Priorclave autoclave is outfitted with an advanced Tactrol control system. These controls are optimized for research, with unparalleled cycle customization: One-touch operation, delayed cycle start, media warming, automatic cycle repeat, and more.
