Allowing for the simultaneous fusion of multiple joints with varying material thicknesses, our superior aluminum dip and vacuum brazing operations provide parts with improved structural integrity, better conductivity, and less distortion than alternative machining processes. And, our aluminum dip and vacuum brazing service provides our clients with reduced tooling costs and significant material savings. Our vacuum can operate on aluminum parts measuring 36x24x18 inches, while our aluminum dip can handle parts measuring 36x48x48 inches.
At Ridge Engineering, we are dedicated to providing clients with the most advanced machining operations that combine high-quality production with considerable cost savings and shorter lead times. All of our brazing services meet high industry standards. And, we further ensure the quality of our craftsmanship by performing a variety of inspection analyses, such as flow and pressure testing, all executed with our own, custom-built equipment.

Titanium Keel Fitting

  • Material Used 6AL-4V Titanium Solid Billet Thickness: 7"
  • Material Finish BR127 Primer Surface Roughness: 32 RMS Color: Yellow
  • Volume Less than 100
At Ridge Engineering we specialize in tight tolerance precision CNC machining, the project highlighted here exemplifies our commitment to quality and precision. This item was designed for use as a fitting on a space craft. Machined from 7" thick solid billet, 6AL-4V titanium, it was manufactured to Mil-spec MIL-STD-1547B.Manufacturing utilized our state of the art DMC douBLOCK True 5 axis milling center, this allowed us to meet the required tolerances of 0.0005". The finished component measured 6.5" in length, 3.25" in width, and 3.75" in height, and was finished with a yellow BR127 primer, and featured a surface roughness of 32 RMS. We manufactured less than 100 of these components with a lead time of 4 weeks.

Fin Field Stock

  • Volume 30, 000
  • Material Used 6061-T6 Aluminum Thickness: 0.032"
The fin field stock shown here was designed for use in a military application to cool electronic components. Composed of 0.032 thick, 6061-T6 aluminum it required several processes to manufacture. The fin components were CNC milled before being dip brazed per AWS C3.7 Class C. Each finished part measured 2.3 in length, 1 in width, 0.5 in height, and met tolerances of 0.001. At Ridge Engineering were ISO 9001:2008 certified and take quality seriously; all parts are subject to stringent quality control measures.
After fabrication the fin was heat treated per AMS 2770, followed by the application of a chromate conversion coating per MIL-DTL-5541, with a surface roughness of 32 RMS. We currently manufacture 30, 000 of these parts per year delivering 3, 000 per month. To learn more about this project, see the table below or contact us directly.

Aluminum Housing

  • Material Finish Gold Iridite Color: Gold Surface Roughness: 32 RMS
  • Volume 100 Annually
  • Tightest Tolerances ±0.001"
This housing was fabricated for a military application, it was composed of 0.06" thick 5052-H32 aluminum, and highlights many of our metal forming capabilities. The customer supplied 2D drawings called for a finished size of 14" in length, 8" in width, and 5" in height, it also called out tolerances of 0.001". Initially fabrication required the laser cutting of the raw stock; the aluminum sheet was then formed and welded. Welding was performed to AWS D17.1 Class C standards for welding. After thorough dimensional inspections the housing had a gold Iridite, chromate conversion coating applied, the housing also featured a 32 RMS finish. We currently manufacture 100 of these housings annually.
