The project highlighted here is familiar sight to anyone who has ever welded pipe. Known as a V-head helper stand, it is used to support materials for welding. This component is initially cast from A216 steel, and then forged followed by thread cutting, punching, oxy welding, and the application of zinc plating. It features dimensions of 1-38" x 254 mm for the rod. The v-plate has a span of 184 mm, is 63.5 mm in length, and is 9.5 mm thick, all to tolerances of 1 mm. Production for this product is ongoing at 10, 000 assemblies per year, delivering 3, 000 pieces every 45 days.
