2D CAD prints were customer supplied from which flat patterns & machine programs were developed for the individual components. Multiple machines were required, including CNC Turret, Press Brakes, Vertical Machining Centers& Tig welding to produce the final product. Final dimensions of the cover were 20.5” in length, 11” in width, 6” in height, built to tolerances of ±.010” and consisting of 5052 H32 & 6061-T6 aluminum.

A manufacturer of computer networking equipment needed a custom built enclosure that would be rack mountable as well as lockable. The interior of the unit called for pullout shelf. Our engineers set to work creating a design to meet these features, ultimately producing a cost effective solution featuring a clam-shell hinged opening. The laser was used for the parts that required flat processing and forming was accomplished in one of our Advantage Brakes. Where required we used the Autosert for installing necessary fasteners. The finished rack enclosure featured dimensions of 33.560” in length, 6.940” in height, and 10.810”, manufactured to tolerances of ±.010”. The quality of the unit was achieved with inspection and testing including laser scanning with our Virtek scanner. 12 units were produced within 5 weeks and shipped to our client in Tampa FL. This was a complete technical data package, built to client specification to meet their application requirements. Composed entirely of 5052 H32 & 6061 T6 aluminum, it featured dimensions of 14" in length, 9" in width, 10" in height, and was fabricated to tolerances of ±.010". Fabrication required the aluminum sheet to be laser cut on our Mazak HTX 510, the sheet was then formed on an Advantage press brake. Other components were machined and TIG welded into place, with hardware being installed using our Autosert hardware inserter. The enclosure was painted gray and silkscreened with white.

This assembly was replicated from an originally cast part, and had to occupy the same space and mount the same way as their tactical unit. Our Mazak HTX 510 laser was used to cut the specified 6061-T6 aluminum to precise specifications. Sections were rolled to the necessary profile, then our Milltronics machining centers were employed for the CNC milling work. 14 feet of welding was also required using TIG and MIG methods. The unit was inspected during and after construction for quality and accuracy using laser, and 2d inspection methods, as well as qualified fixtures. The finished piece was painted a 27875 white, with a total of 9 units manufactured and delivered to our client in Orlando, with a turnaround time of 6 weeks. The gun mount cradle was 23” tallwith an outer diameter of approximately 22.00”, weighing 148 lbs. The tightest tolerances of ± 0.010” were held during fabrication. We are particularly proud of this project, as it was manufactured using the full spectrum of our machining & fabrication abilities.

A customer in the solar industry contracted SFI for the design and fabricate of the bracket highlighted here. We fabricated a bracket that was designed to mount a solar panel system controller inside of a fiberglass enclosure and hold a battery as well. The finished bracket featured dimensions of 13.25" in length, 8" in width, and 3.5" in height, and was manufactured to tolerances of ±.010". We fabricated and assembled 100 of these units and shipped them to our client in Orlando with a lead-time of 4 weeks.
